Newcastle Knights

Watching how much intent the knights played with today and comparing it to what parra is dishing up this season, really shows why we didn't deserve finals footy at all. Knights will put a scare in some teams during finals

  • Penrith will do the 3peat that's a forgone conclusion but I'd love for the Knights to do it.

    • Don't think Knights can win it all but they'll be a tough team to beat week 1/2. Panthers Broncos GF looks likely.

  • I'd like to see the Warriors win the premiership simply because they've never won before.

    • Warriors Knights are definitely the underdog fan favourites!

      • Warriors won't go too far in the finals, they play a great brand of footy but it isn't finals football.
They remind me of the Eels in the sense they don't push the boundaries with the refs, they don't engage in the type of gamesmanship you need to win a competition.

In the finals you need to be ultra aggressive and play in a such a way that it's not in the spirit of the game. They don't have it in them in comparison to a few of the more conditioned teams.

In games where every inch counts and points are worth double, every edge you can get counts and the Warriors won't be looking as hard as some of their oppositions for such advantages.

They were  my pick at the start of the year as the biggest improvers, I thought they were a well balanced football team but the finals are a different story.
I hope a home semi can get them home and deeper in the finals.

The Knights (for reasons unknown) have underachieved for years. Newcastle, like their opponents today are what I call "confidence teams". These teams can go on both winning and losing streaks. Sure, confidence can affect every team, but the outstanding teams have the ability to overcome below-standard performances quickly and easily. Confidence teams can have a poor game that lowers their confidence levels and they struggle for weeks. The Newcastle Knights right now are flying high, their confidence levels are extreme. I believe if the Knights are to lose one of their remaining two games before the Finals they will lose confidence and won't fire a shot in September.

    • They do run very hot and cold and it's all based around KP. They probably will flame out soon and then get knocked out in finals but good effort from them I guess 🤣

  • I think going off the way they're playing the knights could win week one. But that's about it honestly. To me there is really only two options on who wins the finals. Penrith. Or, penrith lose in the qualifying finals and the team that beats them use up all their energy to make the Grand Final that they have none for the game itself. Getting beating.

  • They look great. They'd put 70 on the eels in current form.

  • Knights are great to watch. It's interesting watching their defence. Their first up contact is brutal. They swarm into tackles. Their line speed is first rate. They slide when they should and jam when they should with enough cover coming across to handle it. In attack it's simple but fast. It's Eels-esque. (When we play like we should) I'm enjoying watching them.
