Newcastle accuses Tahu of racism

Timana Tahu slandered Knights players as "rednecks" according to Rugby League Week, during the emotion-charged Round 15 clash at Energy Australia Stadium.

The magazine cited a number of Knights players who supposedly anonymously confirmed the incident, but Tahu has denied it took place to Parramatta CEO Paul Osborne, who said that was all the information he needed.

Meanwhile, a RLW interview with Adam McDougall has revealed another aspect of Tahu's role in the club - that of an "enforcer".

McDougall defended Tahu and said that returning to Newcastle after such an emotionally-charged week was always going to result in a heated performance from the Parramatta centre. He said that Tahu's role in defence was to be one of the side's enforcers and to protect Eels half Daniel Mortimer.

  • My Knight supporter mate made a joke that Tahu got sent of for a 'racist tackle'

    LOL!!!!

    Perhaps he was right? Hahaha

Can't wait for Tahu to return and can't wait for this weekends game!!!
  • Johns calls Tahu and other Aboriginal players black c****=Racist pig
Tahu calls Newcastle players 'Rednecks'=The truth
  • You could see from the minute all the players made their way onto the paddock that it was much bigger then Johns. All the Newcastle players and supporters came to the rescue of Johns by giving it to Tahu by sledging him and baiting him. After all Johns is treated like God in Newcastle so it didn't surprise me to see all the rednecks come out of the woodwork in support of their massiah. Screw all the racists rednecks.
  • Given that Timana was also one of Newcastle's adopted sons the fans would not like him "turning" on them.

But this racist furore is becoming worse than a 3 ring circus.
3/4 of the Knights are of Kiwi, Islander or Aboriginal decent, so who was he calling rednecks?

Tahu left the Knights supposedly because Hagan wouldn't let him play his preferred position at centre - when Hagan came to Parra there was much concern from Tahu that he would be put back on the wing.
Correct me if I am wrong but didn't Tahu leave Parra to play Rah-rah when Hagan was still coach and then came back after he left.

The way this is going we won't be able to call anyone except by their own given name.
Nicknames will be considered "racist" as will general slang. Call a redhead a 'Ranga" or "Bluey" and we could all end up in gaol

I am not belittling Tahu's stance but seriously does he need counselling to come to grips with the real world
