New to 1Eyed Eel - Status updates

Happy to announce the latest feature to come to 1Eyed Eel is status updates. Just click on the My Page link and you'll be able to post a status update or a link. How I hope the status updates will be used is, it means you don't necessarily have to post a blog to express one's self. I would also encourage you to keep your status updates Parramatta related. I'm sure as a community, we're not particularly interested in what everyone has had for breakfast, for example. You can also post a link to the community. So let's say there is a story you want to bring to people's attention but don't think it warrants a full blog, now you can just post a link. The feature is a little limited at the moment because you can't comment of people's statuses, but that will come as well. Like everything, we'll experiement with various ways of using new features and see what works and what doesn't.

You need to be a member of 1Eyed Eel to add comments!

  • Let's hope so, the last thing we want here is a FACEBOOK type of site.
    • I totally agree

  • I won't let anything dilute the traditional value of the site, but that said, I'm keen to experiment where I can with new ways of allowing people to express themselves and interact. If it ever got over the top, its all to easy to disable or keep status updates off the home page but so far I like the way people have used it. As I said, it just means people don't need to start a blog every time that went to make a comment thats not directly related to something else people are chatting about.
