New match fixing allegations

Can't post the link but below is the story from RLWi hope this has nothing to do with us.FacebookTwitterGoogleEmailSHOCKING new claims are about to emerge about a high-profile player throwing a game earlier this season.Fairfax Media journalist Kate McClymont – who has broken many of the game’s biggest scandals in recent years – is hot on the trail of the story. The game occurred in round eight back in April. The club is aware of what happened but has tried to sweep the incident under the carpet in classic rugby league style. The player involved has a massive gambling problem and allegedly decided to go for a big score to recoup losses by betting a large sum on the opposition. His team lost the game and he allegedly collected on money placed by an associate. However, the club found out and took action.

  • Gonna be us for sure. An already tarnished player was stood down the following week to deal with some issues.
  • That will have to be a life ban if true.
  • Its from round 8 could be us who lost to cowboys thats the game we were losing 18-16 norman got binned in the 60th odd minute and we lost 32-16 or it could be the roosters who stepped dowm their recruitment manager over links to eddie hayson on nrl advice they lost to dragons 20-18
    • It says "player" who was stepped down. It is Foran for sure.

    • No way it was Norman. The club nor the Nrl had any issue with norman until the infamous dinner date.
  • It's a nothing story that wont go anywhere. One player can't throw an entire match. He would need co conspirators. I'd doubt it would be Parra. We were far from favourites against NQ at their home ground
    • Why does it matter if we were favourites or not? The article doesn't say anything bout being favourites. All that matters is the result.

    • One player can throw a match in round eight Penrith got beaten by the Sharks 20 - 18.

Penrith scored 4 tries to 3...and whoever was goal kicking, kicked 1 from 4...when does Jamie Soward ever kick 1 from 4??

Not saying its him but it can be done.

  • There were a lot of close games in Round 8, as well as three floggings. Knowing our luck it probably will be us, but it could he any team.
  • Massive gambling problem......hmmm who could that be!!!! Noted that the parramatta no 7 that week did not play the following week. Always going to be hard to prove but no doubt there would be trails on the "associate" otherwise this story wouldn't have made it this far
