New half

Is Dargan or Doolan a possibility of being smokies next year for the halfback or five-eighth spot?

From what Ive seen Doolan is ok without being spectacular and Dargan's kicking game is good, and is a confident defender.

Now doubt Arthur would put them in, as we know he's track record of putting rookies into the line up, however mid way through next year if one of them may get picked which will get the nod?.

I cant judge as I have only seen 3 games of each, however Dargan sounds impressive to me

  • Neither of these guys played well for Wenty this year, but they are both still only 19. They have another year of NYC eligibility.

  • Would love to see cornish get a crack before the years out depending on his fitness after coming back from injury. I'd put him in there before letting these to have a lash. Cornish needs to work on his defense abit but all signs point to a good attacking half from what i have seen from him.
    • Lucky to get another contract ,not nrl quality im afraid
  • To be blunt, no.

Neither has played with any consistency in the upper tier - that being NSW Cup - and still need time and work to develop further.
As Pou says, both are eligible for NYC next year as well, so there's no point rushing them if they aren't ready.

  • Brett

I think they look at some of the kids currently playing, Taylor, Cartwright, and others who are doing well and wonder if we've got any coming through of the same caliber.

Its pretty normal and lets face it, French has been great out of the gate, so some who called for his inclusion earlier could say they were right to call it.

  • Dont know wether youve watched wenty but dargans defence against the big boys is dismal, nowhere near nrl quality
    • In 20's I'm referring too, Wenty is different definitely but he can improve. If you are a decent defender in 20's, he can get better in NSW cup

  • Two to look at instead our Cameron Cullen and Nu Brown, both aren't getting enough opps at there clubs.

  • I know people don't like this bloke but would Soward be worth a go? Good kicking game.
    • No, he's a cat. Won't tackle and run the ball.  There is a reason he was dumped for an 18 year old.
