Neutral Referees ? Of Course !!

How pathetic was the refereeing last night? In the last 15 minutes both referees did everything they could to assist Queensland. From the first tackle of the match Queensland went the dirt in attacking the head of tackled NSW`s players--no intervention by the referees. Even Inglis and Thurston  disgraced themselves by following that foul tactic clearly devised by the Queensland coaching cabal.

NSW ask for no help from the referees but do demand that they be neutral in their duty. Otherwise NSW is within its rights to ask for NSW to be indulged in the second SOO as Queensland were in the first. The question arises why have two referees when neither penalised Queensland when Jennings was held back by Cherry-Evans? One of them must have seen it.

  • Agree RL, I can't ever recall seeing a match where the ref (Shane Hayne) did his utmost best to bring QLD back into the game. He was very ordinary. Cummins was the pocket ref and listening to the call last night Gus Gouls made mention how Cummins was calling that Hodges was milking a penalty yet Hayne ignored Cumins call and penalised Merrin.

  • The refs were an absolute joke, it was one of the worst displays I have seen recently. QLD practically had an additional player in the ref.

Seriously the same ref should be dumped to reserve grade, it was woeful that's for sure.

  • You blokes didn't watch the first half obviously...
  • I liked how the refs let a lot go, there were a lot of instances that would have been a penalty that they didn't penalise which I love, it kept the game intense and competitive the how way through. In saying that there were terrible calls. The biggest croc was when Lewis had the ball stripped of him, he retained and after the pocket ref called strip and qld knock on, the other ref over ruled it and called a knock on. Not only did he over turn a good decision, he overturned it to a wrong decision, that could have lost us the game, and definitely prevented us from putting the game away.
    • Whole*
    • That one definitely, but even as early as 5 min into the game, when Tupou jumped for the ball, and Tate? knocked on, they gave it back to qld and they scored.
  • It's happened a lot over the last few years. It wasn't just skill that got QLD home 8 years straight!!!!
  • Refs see what they're being paid to see.
