Parramatta legend Nathan Hindmarsh slams eight-point strip for Eels — Media Watch
THE rugby league world is waiting with bated breath to learn what punishment the NRL will hand down to Parramatta for breaching the salary cap.
With an announcement expected within the fortnight, rumour have been rife concerning possible penalties.
The latest development has eight competition points being taken off the Eels for 2016, which would take them from their current 12 down to just two.
A club legend isn’t happy with that suggestion.

HINDY: EIGHT POINT STRIP TOO LENIENT
Parramatta legend Nathan Hindmarsh believes stripping the Eels of eight competition points would be too lenient.
Hindmarsh, who played 330 games for the club, says the NRL must ensure the Eels do not play finals in 2016 if they are serious about penalising them for salary cap breaches.
“(The NRL has) got to make sure they don’t make the semi finals,” Hindmarsh said on Fox Sports.
“It’s going to have to be more than eight, otherwise you think what’s the point of doing it anyway.
“Why don’t they wait until the end of the year, so they’ve played everyone twice, then they say these are the points you’ve lost.
“There was nothing worse than playing against the Storm when they had no points to play for.
“It was weird feeling, because they had nothing to play for.”

Nathan Hindmarsh believes stripping the Eels of eight competition points would be too lenient....no he did not say this.... mis quote = dodgy journo (who probably was a pass student at uni but willing to make money from being a c***).
In all honesty, the fairest punishment would be to take points away from the previous seasons when we had breached the cap. Back dated punishment just like Cronulla received.
Agree PFOTH. Take away our 2 wooden spoons for cheating the cap.
This appears to be a direct quote from Hindmarsh “(The NRL has) got to make sure they don’t make the semi finals,” Hindmarsh said on Fox Sports". Did Hindmarsh lose his coaching gig at Parra this year or is he still involved? If still involved I would sack him at 9:00 am this morning. If he lost his coaching gig he joins the long list of those who have spite and revenge as their motivation over all this. You may have had a lounge or grandstand named after you one day Nathan but not now. If you were a strong captain you would have won 2 premierships. Puts me one step closer to cancelling my Foxsports subscription and all league involvement after 50 years. And that Nathan is why you will never make any legend team. Just missing that bit of steel in the backbone that blokes like Ray Higgs, Ray Price and Beau Scott have. The commentators on the game used to be real men like Rex Mossop, Ron Casey, Frank Hyde, Ferris Ashton, Col Pearce but now you only get a gig if you act like a clown.
If he was strong enough for a premiership he wouldn't have been blowing all his money on the poker machines like a degenerate.
PT, you'd have to think that he was a well looked after player in his time here during the previous administration maybe he owes someone one?
