Apparently his contract had no fixed tenure attached. He was essentially off contract at the end of every season.
Was it confidence or desperation that saw accept such a deal ?
Bennet really did leave the knights in the Shitter. Brown always struck me as an honest, hard working bloke.
But not a coache’s a hole.
He wasn’t a great player either.
Jimmy, his father got him basically everything he has. He had contacts with Brian and Tony Smith.
I played against him and his father was a massive influence from the sidelines and afterwards the speed dial to the Smiths. He was never that great a player. I used to absolutely smash him...no shit.
He stood out as he had fluoro white hair, was small and back in the day you could up end an opponent and drop him on his head.
To his credit, he would usually get straight back up.
He was never a great player and has shown to be a very average coach.
Esso, Pauly Shannon and Daryl Simmons were far better players in his team, but didn’t have their Daddy in the right places.
