Nathan Brown

It's no secret the Eels rely on winning the ruck. When we don't, we can't seem to play off the back foot at all. In fact, we aren't even competitive.

I look at teams like the Roosters who have JWH and Lodge to start, then Takiaho and Collins coming off the bench - and I just shudder. There is almost no hope the Eels will beat that team over 80 minutes with our bench.

Which brings me to N Brown. Why is he not playing? I don't know. I heard BA say in a presser a few weeks back that he was going to be selected before hel injured his finger. Surely that finger is ok by now.

We need him back to be competitive imo, and I would love to see him come off the bench (I was calling for him to come off the bench even before he got relegated).

With N Brown, Nuikore, Cartwright and Kaufusi as our bench rotation, I think we could hold the ruck enough not to get blown away by any side. The addition of Brown would make a huge difference. If there is any bad blood between him and BA, it needs to be set aside for the good of the team.

Ps, I think Kaufusi cops a little too much criticism on this site. I don't rate him and I'm not upset to see him go, but I don't mind his aggressive carries and think he is a reasonable bench forward. They can't all be superstars.

  • On injury list

    • Nathan Brown is too small to make an impact these days

      • He may not be the biggest body in attack, however our line speed in defence is much better with him in the team

  • I was talking to him on Saturday, he is still wearing the brace and thinks he would be right next week if selected.

    • Hopefully, that's right. AND he gets selected.

  • In regards to Kaufusi, he is average at best. Came on the scene at 18 with everyone excited he could replace Mannah at the time be a full-time starter for us. He is a decent bench rotational forward at best. Which baffles me as to why Cronulla paid him 450k a year?

I understand why Kaufusi is being picked, this is the first year where he has played pretty much every game as other years he was in and out by mid year.

Brown would offer more, i do not mind Kaufusi being named as it makes sense from experience.

  • It's not like they haven't tried bringing in a prop like the Roosters did. They went for Marty Kow Pow & Klemmer & missed out.

    • Yeah it was interesting how Melbourne and roosters found it so easy to find players, yet for some reason we couldn't jag one.

  • Nathan Brown echoed what we have been saying about selection and Nepotism.   Game Over both for him and the Eels this year.   Our bench is putrid.

    • where has he said it? he has been out injured for a few weeks....prior to that he wasn't selected,
