My word is stronger than oak...

One of the best scenes of the movie Jerry Maguire is where the dad (aka Wayne Beavis) says to Jerry Maguire is "my word is stronger than oak" and his son then signs with another club .Listening to MMM Rush Hour tonight they interviewed Wayne Beavis. He summarises the JH situation as;- Jarryd wanted to play this year- the Titans were in negotiations for a month and had an official offer on the table- the eels only had an unofficial offer (I imagine this is verbal and not a written contract) on the table which was immediately rejected by Beavis- the gap between the offer the eels and Titans was reasonably wide in terms of dollars- multiple times acknowledged the eels had issues with understanding what they could offer Jarryd and this delayed their offerIt seems to me that Jarryd was maybe not shown the eels offer. I think Jarryd made the decision based on that he wanted to play this year and he didn't think an official offer was forthcoming.I wonder how the Vave deal was done (if it is at all)if clarity around our salary cap is not confirmed for Jarryd. Are we able to sign anyone until the new board and executive are in place.

  • Lmao Jarryd wanted to play this year??? It was only a few weeks ago he wanted to go to rio. What a load of shit.
    • He had a "DREAM" to play RL this year because the bank was getting low after being pyssed off by his Fijian Christian brothers.

  • Why couldn't he have played for us this year
    • Because we didn't make a formal offer comprendo?

  • It's called Flexible Ethics.

    • That's when it hit home. Him saying he wanted to be at Parra was the turning point. I feel like Hayne was bullied into this signing.
    • So here's a question for you.

IF Jawwyd was any sort of a man why has he sold his soul to the devil and shafted the Eels fans like this?

I am glad you think he is miserable - he is getting what he deserves.

  • Exactly. The Parra board has been in a state of disarray the entire time he was at Parra, and if it's to be believed, he was a major financial beneficiary of that disarray. So he can't go using that excuse now.
  • NRL 360's Qld reporter said that Jared spoke to Titans for the first time yesterday. He flew up in afternoon and made a decision at 9 pm and the contract was drawn up and signed then.
This being the case, with Parra making an offer to his management prior to this it looks like he had no intention of sgning with Parramatta.
