  • 90s?!? Is that even classed as retro? Seems like yesterday. Hmmm, maybe I am old.

    • The start of the decade is nearly 30 years ago. That's starting to get retro. I also think Fox have it on a rolling cycle. Last year it was the 80s, year before the 70s. It'd get a bit boring if they had the same decade every year.

  • Fair team; considering Canberra were over the cap during part of the 90's. Maybe add in Leaping Lee Oudenryn, G Drake and G Catanach, and even Joe Bartolo on the wing.

    • You go through a list of clubs who have broken the salary cap and almost every single side has broken it at one stage or another. Unsurprisingly Melbourne are the most fined and disciplined club when it comes to the salary cap.

  • Wow! The raiders were $600k over the $1.5mil cap, that is massive.

    • Yep that really is significant. Imagine being caught 4 million over the cap with today's figures. That's the sort of scale we are talking here.

    • I was only 21 then HKF so my memory was not great but it came out and tbh it did not seem to be a huge story; and i put it down to Canberra being the favs of the ARL ; the team they had was white hot. Some like me were happy Penriff beat them in 91. Yes when you look at it, they were 40% over the cap which now would be massive!!

      • The more I go through that list and look at the punishments meted out for cheating the cap, we copped a pretty rough deal. The only other teams stripped of points were for systematic breaches. Pretty much anything related to TPAs has previously resulted in fines but no points deductions.

        • Yes mate; i guess they were different times. This was where i applauded Gallop when he stripped C'bury of points etc. Different CEO's i guess....

  • It's amazing how many teams have won comps over the cap. The best is the most stupid thing ever introduced and before you start about making the comp even. Yes the bottom halve even, the top halve always at the top, because they are rorting the bloody cap one way or another. TPA are just a bullshit way to get away with it, some clubs can't get TPA, so what's the use of having a cap.
