My oh so glorious return.

My flock, your shepherd has returned. After an extended break on the sideline, blueNgold is back better than ever.

So now that the Eels are officially back in form (I said to anyone that would listen to have faith) and the wrist slitters have begun to crawl back into the woodwork, I thought it an ideal time for my much anticipated return to 1st grade.

I’ve been keeping an eye on things and I think the extra effort that Phil and the mods have been putting into the site has made a lot of difference to the quality of content, so kudos to them.

Of course there are still some out and out idiots on the site, idiot being the only word that truly describes them without having to wash my mouth out with soap so I’ll stick with that. I realised that the people who put the time and effort into the site to make it a success through quality input deserve as much back up as possible to contain the rubbish from the tools.

So enough of the small talk, lets get down to my take on the Eels so far. I’m not going to go into a heap of detail otherwise I’ll be up all night but I’ll make some key points.

-Defence has been outstanding all season which imo is our biggest strong point. Confidence with the ball in hand may come and go (which we’ve already seen) however if we’re solid in defence then we know that going into any game we are capable of competing and grinding out a win.

-Although Hayne hasn’t been pulling off as many “freakish” things as last season, his overall level of contribution to our team has not. He has been outstanding, his willingness to do the dirty work, safe as a house at the back, his leadership and the touches of class he shows, unbelievable... We may have one of the all-time greats on our hands ladies and gentlemen and I don’t like to make outlandish comments but at 22 years old, wow.

- For the KK doubters, eat it. The guy has been fantastic and our attacking structure and all round attitude changed the minute he got to start in the halves. I love Mortimers commitment and attitude etc but honestly KK has made him look ordinary, and when I say ordinary I’m probably being rather lenient. As I predicted Robson has made a solid fist of hooker and the strengths he brings to the team in his defence and experience are there still to see. While I’m on the halves Humble looks like he could be a very good utility, I still think he is a more natural 1 however I loved his defence in the front line, he wanted to make a statement tonight and I think he did.

-Timmy Mannah has improved out of sight this season. I always believed he had the potential to be a very good prop forward, potentially rep quality, but for him to be pushing for Origin selection this season is unbelievable. I think Justin Poore has been great, people have to realise that he isn’t Fui and isn’t going to send defenders flying like 10 pins, the guy is at the club to play the Steve Price role of doing the hard yards, sureing up the middle of the field and leading the other forwards around and what I like about him is he brings a little bit of agro which we have missed. He came out tonight and sure he got smashed once (off a Mortimer puppy ball) but he got up and busted his arse for the rest of the night. The bloke is a top footy player.

-Hindy well what else can you say. Cayless has been solid and courageous as always. Burt is like a bottle of cab sav just gets better with age. Benny Smith is thriving in the back row. Horo has completely surprised me, never rated him at Wenty.

- To finish off I’d thought id touch on the Mateo/Inu to warriors scenario. Look it’s not as if we didn’t see this coming, you can’t buy Justin Poore, Timana Tahu and re-sign Jarryd Hayne and Daniel Mortimer to mega bucks without some kind of backlash. As much as I love these two blokes and what they bring to the team they are somewhat replaceable. Inu is playing on the wing and as freakish as he is, no other team in the comp would pay that kind of money for a winger its dumb business. Mateo is a freak yet I honestly thought he would have become one of the most dominant players in the game by now. He isn’t 21 and still reaching his potential, he is a seasoned first grader and still hasn’t been able to get himself into good physical condition and find consistency in his game, so if the Warriors are willing to throw 400k at him then that’s their risk. Best of luck to the both of them, hope we can send them out as premiership winners this season.

To all my loyal readers, it's good to be back. I luv yuz all

  • Good to see you back blueNgold... I told you, you wouldnt be able to stay away! =)
  • Welcome back, mate. Can't say I disagree with a single thing you've said. Although I do want to take a very quick opportunity to thank our mods - and in particular Tinkerbell who I reckon has been working overtime - to make the Trash blog system work effectively and keep the "colour" beneath the surface but not buried altogther.

Horo again tonight. Like you, he has totally surprised me, but he's just developed into a class backrower and really gives us a complete 1 to 17. (Although I feel a little for Oakey, who has again just been pipped on his opportunity to get solid NRL time and grow his game).
    • *blushes* Thanks Phil. :-)

I am happy to be doing my very small part to see that this site remains a very happy and magical place to be. :-)
  • Welcome back big fella.
  • Lovin that you are back. Great blog, agree completely.
  • HOORAY!!!!

Welcome, welcome, welcome back BlueNGold - I am so glad you are contributing again! But I am slightly peeved :-P (said with tongue in cheek) that you have been continuing to read and have left me and others to deal with KK bashers, why did we let Kevin Kingston go and we are going to get the wooden spoon blogs! You had better make up for this!!!

In respect of your blog - completely, completely agree.

I just also want to say thanks to my friends out there in cyber world who have helped me to remain positive over the early part of our season. It was definitely hard in those first few weeks with the forum pervaded with negativity, but it has improved dramatically in the last few weeks and I am so glad that people are finally beginning to recognise that Parramatta always take a bit of time to find their groove.

P.S. My favourite part of your blog was 'eat it' to the KK bashers. :-) :-) :-)

Welcome home BlueNGold - please don't leave again!!
    • haha you obviously have a lot more patience and resiliance to stupidity than me Tinks.

cheers dalin, Iv'e got your back from here on in, my promise :)
  • Great to have you back blueNgold and completely agree with everything you say! Typically, now that we're winning, the naysayers are contributing a lot less on this forum! To me, it's pathetic only to 'have a say' when things aren't going well and otherwise remain mute!

Anyway, good to have you back mate!

BTW, word of warning...there's a certain bloke on here that has a brain aneurysm reading anything longer than two lines (or a series of dots) so your post above has probably put him in a coma, and you'd best be careful calling the idiots on their horseshit! If you get too exasperated and start patronising them we've now got another bloke who'll threaten to "show his manhood" - a sight none of us are too keen to see ;-)

    ...so, heads up...
    • Welcome back son, you cant keep a good man down!
  • Welcome back mate, hope your raring to go because we have a ripper of a season ahead of us.

As Bourbon pointed out, there is a new breed of dickhead on this site, but as Parramatta now has 4 on the trot, i doubt we will hear much from them.
