My man, Mateo

I've said enough times that I believe a major problem with our side, is we don't have enough players who step up when things aren't going so well. Tonight was wonderful, but we are once again in a position where we are almost wholly reliant of Jarryd Hayne. Thankfully, we got a supporting performance from  Kris tonight, particularly with his kicking game. However, until Jarryd got himself into the game we still look a shambles.

That said, I wanted to give a shout out to Feleti, who in my mind was the only player in that early stage of the game who took it upon himself to try and spark the side. It wasn't so much any one particularly fantastic piece of work, but he went looking for the ball and backed himself a couple of times and we got important results from those pieces of play that set us up for some of our point scoring attacks.

I truly hope that is encouraged, and while he may no longer be the "main man" I would love Feleti to be asked to do more in attack. There will be sides who will mark up on Jarryd far better than the Pennies did tonight - don't think the Dragons will ever give him that much room to work with or fail to mark up properly on his outside supports. And in those circumstances, we are going to desperately need more of that Feleti spark.

  • Maxforce, please tell me which particular tackles you're referring to that would encourage you to describe his defensive effort as shameful...
  • I want to agree with this post, but without having actually seen te game, it would be biased of me to do so.

But can I just say that Feleti, or Hot Mateo as he is more affectionatey known, is also a favourite of mine.

While he is a potent attacking weapon what I love most about him is that he is Parramatta through and through. He loves our Club and is always a team member.

I am going to be devastated when he has our last game for us. Hopefully he returns to us!
  • i love feleti too - and we are letting him go!!!!!!

im really impressed that he hasnt turned it up and we all know how much he loves parra

this one will come back to bite us big time!
  • How awesome was his offload for the Horo try? It was perfectly timed and executed while at pace and with 2 tacklers on him. Mateo Magic!
  • We're gonna miss Feleti next year. Can we have him and Inu back already? I know they haven't even left yet but I'm still sooo reluctant to let them go.
    • Still don't really understand why we are letting Mateo go. In terms of match winning players he is still in the top 5 in my opinion and it is a massive bonus to have him and Hayne in the same team.

Has played his reduced, traditional lock role well this year.
  • Inu was not lazy today. He was very composed and did not screw up once. Wright was to blame for the Gordon try not Inu. Inu came up with the offloads at the crucial times that got us going. He also offloaded the most with 5 offloads. Look how flashy he was with his runs and he even passed on our own side of the field to Wright when he could have just gone down in the tackle. It was definitely his best game of the season.
