There's has been an update in the betting scandal and the status of Brad Murray it is understood that Murray will face some hefty fines. It is believed that the investigation might fall apart and only the king pins will be brought to justice this is based on the facts that the betting plunge didnt pay off. Although nothing is concrete until the police investigation is complete.

I wish him the best and hopefully he is proven to not guilty. Still doesnt look good in my opininon.

  • The real crime is we pay too much tax
  • Why would he be given not guilty? He isn't going to court. He hasn't been charged.

Last time I checked, it wasn't illegal for players to punt!
  • It is illegal to punt on an NRL game. It's a breach of their code of conduct.
  • Illegal: prohibited by law

You tell me where in the criminal act it states that an NRL player cannot place a bet? You tell me what law he is breaking?? Please I'm curious.
    • Wrong. What he did was indeed illegal in terms of the rules the sporting code.

      –adjective
      1. forbidden by law or statute.
      2. contrary to or forbidden by official rules, regulations, etc.: The referee ruled that it was an illegal forward pass.
      • So by Murray placing a bet, he was breaking the law? Is that what you are saying?
        • While it may technically not be breaking the law as such it is definitely against the NRL's code of conduct and they would be well within their rights to suspend him if proven guilty. I believe most employers have some sort of code of conduct and if you are found to be in breach it is reason for instant dismissal in most cases. (Though I don't know if they've got the evidence against Brad to prove beyond doubt that he was in breach of the NRL requlations)
          • I totally agree that what he did is not allowed under any circumstance by the NRL, but the fact he placed a bet does not warrant an arrest.

That is the only point i'm trying to prove.

He could be charged for Obtain financial advantage by deception, but not for being an NRL player placing a bet on an NRL match.
        • No just no nrl player can place a bet on other nrl games.
  • Poor dumb kid. Giddy Up told me he has to make an example of him. He's getting a lengthy suspension.
