Murchie released

The Eels have announced the release of backrower Jack Murchie after one season at the club.

It's not specified which club he has now joined.

It's assumed his spot would be filled by a junior and the extra money put towards a new backline recruit.

Probably a few more releases coming this off-season as the Eels try to return to the finals in 2024.

  • Isn't this old news cuz ???

    • I think Luca Morretti overtook him and BA's love child Davey is more favoured over Murch.

    • Absolutely.  Need a complete turnover at the top. O'neill has failed here. Development has been below par also

  • Who's gona back up lane and matterson

    • We have Lane and Cartwright on the edges with Matterson and the super star Andrew Davey.

    • What happened to our once great jnr base

  • Fine to release Murchie, his defence is suspect and he's probably comparable with Davey in attack. I'd hang onto Doorey though

    • Actually Michael his defence is his strong suit, just he was below average in every other area. He made 72 tackles with 2 misses in 5 games, that is good defence. Though he was basic for us, we tried to make im into a middle forward and it didn't work.

      • Fair enough I recalled a bad miss but maybe it was his only one. Those are very good stats. Still ok with him going

        • He was disappointing Michael

Call it $2M straight up or no deal."
