Moving forward

For the "fans" that are criticizing BA I think you need a quick history lesson. BA has come to a team that is suffering from a thirty year draught, a revolving door for coaches, a disfuctional board and the worst roster in the NRL, our roster was so bad it delivered back to back wooden spoons in the two years before he arrived BA was one game away last year his first year from the making the Semi's.We have got to be patient and allow BA to build a team, I don't believe any one can question that our playing roster is on the improve but for the people with short memories this is our 2012 playing roster.Jacob Loko: currently contracted with dogs but has not playedJordan Atkins: London BroncosTaniela lasolo: still at parra can't get into first gradeCheyse Blair: in and out of first grade with ManlyMatt Ryan: WakefieldMitch Allgood: Hull.Ben Smith retiredDaniel Penese: wrong RoosPat O'Hanlon: BulldogsRyan Morgan: still with Parra only in first grade because of injuryJohn Mannah: deceased (RIP)Casey McGuire: retiredWilly Tonga: CatalansJustin Poore: Hull and now retiredShane Shackelton: Mount PritchardRory Obrien: retiredJustin Horo: ManlyMatt Keating: Burleigh BearsChris Sandow: still at ParraJake Mullany: Bradford BullsLuke Burt: retiredMartin Barba: Broncos reserve gradeNathan Smith:Reni Maitua: feather stone roversKen Sio: hullTroy SavagePeni Terepo: still at parraHayne: NFLMoi Moi: EnglandHindmarsh: retiredTim Mannah: still at parraJoe Paulo: unfortunately still at parraEsikal TongaOut of 33 players 10 had to go to England, 4 are playing in the NRL, 3 are playing club footy, 6 retired, 5 are sill playing for us, 1 NFL 1 deceased and the rest I could not locate.BA is moving us in the right direction and if given time will return us to glory.

  • Yes but most of those were moved on by the great Ricky dip s**t Stuart, are you saying we need him back as most of the side BA has now was done by him.

    • Really? Who has he brought in?
  • Shane, you are correct Pricky did move them on but the only players he replaced them with were Norman and Peats. This has left BA with a massive job to rebuild the team, so far Watmough, Taka, Robinson, Champion, wicks and Fiaso and next year Foran and Scott you would have to say he is building a decent roster.
    • Yes Brad, but Champion is gone, Taka has been out, Fiaaoso has only just been cleared.

He brought Wicks in early to FG. most on here thought he wasn't ready but he was.

Robinson has played well when a proper buckling has been in place to feed him opportunities, but that's been hit and miss lately.

Our best centre last year is playing FB because we lost the best FB in the comp.

Should we go on, or are people happy to just blame BA for it all.
    • Yes and he also gave Semmi his first few games.

  • You forgot to mention that lean trot in the 1970s, or the time Jack Gibson left, or when Bert Kenny hung up the boots, or when Hindy left, or the one there was road works in downtown Parramatta and getting about was stressful.

It's always easy to hunt for excuses. One can dig them up anywhere if sufficiently motivated to ignore the here and now. In the end, 13 players take the field with 4 on the bench, and they have 80 minutes to put into action their training and skill. In 2015 we got two good games, one game where everything that could go wrong did go wrong (Dogs), and three awful games where they just did not mentally or physically apply themselves. In the end, make up all the excuses you want and you won't change that simple fact.

For me, I'm a bit tired of years of excuse-making. It's time the pattern of fading out of or not turning up for games changed. They can change that by at least, if they do lose, it's by fewer than 20. How about close losses, even?! Stop making excuses for under-performing but well paid professional footy players.
    • Daz, it is not an excuse it is reality our squad was and to a large part still is not upto nrl standard. I am just of the opinion that BA has recognized this and is rectifying it. It will take time to build the club back up the last time we had continues good seasons was under Brian Smith's 10 year reign.
    • Brad, with all due respect, it IS an excuse. How often have we heard the "we are rebuilding" refrain? Aside from wing and centre, which have indeed suffered continual disruption in 2015, the vast majority of our positions are filled by players with sufficient experience for us to expect they at least turn up.

Is our team world beaters? Clearly not. But not turning up is a lot more than not being world beaters. It's in part persistent excuse making from players with not enough real change to follow. I just think, as fans, we are not obliged to repeat the trick of excuse making.
  • I think the mods need to step in and delete any anti BA blogs. Let's try giving a bloke the term of his employment to see what he can do. Sewing seeds of doubt because of a couple of losses doesn't help anyone.
    • X2
