Moses defending his teammate

despite what everyone thinks on JA, its good to see players supporting each other, especially the kids. JA is still a kid we need to remmeber that

  • Yes it's noble, JA selection was a distraction from the beginning - unfortunately players should never be in a position defending the coachs son.The club and BA need  major reflection on how this has been handled.

    • Good perspective there Mick. I was wondering when someone was going to expose the extended nepotism from JA's two adopted brothers in MM and Clinton Gutherson? Still they should not come out and make ridiculous statements like MM did about his little brother JA being "a good player" and "He's won games for us?" That's just b..ls..t! Doesn't mitchell know that although we might miss s few things watching at the game, it's replayed "LIVE" on the tele.

Those fantasies just completely destroy any credibility Mitchell may have earned through his onfield performances.

  • Where is BA in all this? Why is he not coming out and saying "Blame me, do not blame Jake, i named him if there is an issue blame me" But he has not done that. A leader does that.

    • Because it'd just fan the flames of the gronks who were throwing threats and abuse at his son. It's very well known that the only way to win in online abuse is to give it zero oxygen and I'm sure both Jake and Brad were given that advice and instruction.

Great to see Moses reinforcing the team mentality though, he's shown more and more leadership attributes these last few years - it's impressive to watch his growth.

      • agree captain. Im sure brad knows in hindsight it was a bad decision but he is paid to be a head coach and he has expressed the difficulties of being a head coach and dad at the same time

      • You are right, as if he says it is my fault it can be seen as "see there, nepotism".

        • Honestly, LB, I couldn't give two hoots about nepotism. Fair dinkum, it's a fact of life: it's who you know that opens doors; beyond nepotism. The problem is what happens on the park, and the cohesiveness and mental fortitude of the whole team.

The other problem is, what have they been doing in the off-season? Drilling and repetition, their mental side, and so on. I thought Ennis, Mary and the new sports pyschologist from last year (still here) would have helped Arthur; made more of a difference to their attitude. What's going on?

          • Spot on Hell On Eels I have not used the nepotism angle because it is childish to feign concern, the whole world revolves around contacts and who you know. It is as if we live in a pure meritocracy, we do not, so lets not be shocked if a parent gives their kids a leg up. How many businesses owners pass the business onto their kid, many don't deserve it.

My whole argument is that the selection is dumb, the splitting of the spine is dumb, you could split the spine if you had injuries and a young Brett Kenny type coming through, but other than that, no, just no!

            • The entire mining industry is not what you know but who. Sometimes the world ain't fair.

              • It's the same in every business private or govt

"How does it work, in terms of "contracted top 30", with those Eels lower graders who have been injury prone? Like AMS and Dunster? Dunster was turning out for Wendy until injured (again) in 2025?
Also, I wonder how they assess injury-prone? Do they…"
