Moses and Matterson Extend with Eels

The Parramatta Eels are pleased to announce that the Club and our halfback, Mitchell Moses, have agreed to terms on a contract extension, to the end of 2024.

Ryan Matterson has exercised his option for the 2022 NRL season.

Moses joined the Club in the middle of 2017 and has played a big part in the transformation of the team in recent yea

He had an outstanding 2019 season, earning him the prestigious Ken Thornett Medal as the Club’s player of the year, while also being awarded the Dally M halfback of the year.

General Manager of Football, Mark O’Neill said “I would like to congratulate Mitch on his new deal which is exciting news for everyone at the Club, in particular our members and fans”.

“Mitch is an integral part of the team, he is in career best form and has developed not only as a player but as a leader as well. We are excited that Mitch will continue to lead our squad in the coming years as we aim for a premiership”.

"Ryan is also part of our Player Leadership Group, has played over 100 NRL matches and is adding great value both on and off the field," O'Neill said.

"Issac Moses has always been clear with his intent - he hoards players and coaches so he can try and use his size to bully clubs and the NRL. He can make players and coaches package deals, he can threaten to pull multiple deals.  IMHO he doesn't care…"

"It's as if he is too lazy to check for himself what his player is worth, so he goes shopping with as many clubs as will listen to him. In the end, this is bad for the clubs but also is very distracting for the player. What's worse he leaks eveything…"
