Moses and D.Brown

This year our halves are looking balanced with both taking an even share of the work and working well together - often same side (of field). Think this is good for them both and great for the team. They had a good game plan that they worked to and nailed. They did the arm-wrestle, kept the attack straight and used their long kicks to the corners, patiently picked good moment for attacks such as aerial attack on Jenning. Its this sort of stuff that will give us a shot -rather than relying on X-factor plays. Moses's long kicking is awesome - especially with these new rules.  Mahoney is helping with a third option. If we can keep this up and keep the game plan one step ahead of the opposition it will be a good year. Stability is starting to bare fruits.

  • Moses was the difference with his precise long kicking. Its the first game I can remember where Moses has stayed calm in a big game and executed the skills we know has. Kicked us to victory.

Brown played a steady hand we know he can play.

Mahoney's kick for touch was great too.

Best wet weather club game I've ever watched.

  • Agreed, Wile. I have not seen MM and DB share the load as evenly before. From a kicking game perspective, it made a huge difference, preventing the Storm loading up on MM. Also, I thought in the second half the Eels pressured Hughes on the kick better than the first half, and Hughes' distance on the kicks suffered, making a difference in the wet. That was happening to MM last year a lot: one kicker making kick pressure easier.

I also thought DB got more involved. For instance DB's kick for Sivo's first try, where MM was tackled on the 5th and DB swung back to his old left side. DB was not always making that assignment last year

    • Thats right - time is right for Dylan, Mitchell and for the better of the team to share the load and responsibility - hallelujah!

And how much better does Moses and the team look for it! No headless chook in sight!

  • Moses' kicking game turned the game and kept us in it. It was massive.
Dylan does many good things however he needs to get that show and go out of his game. He dummies well before the line fooling no one and gets tackled easily. Either run immediately and with purpose or pass.

    • Muttman I wonder how much of the side switching is because DB steps off his left? Now when he does it he can get to the outside of his defender. Not the inside, stepping back into traffic.
Agreed DB needs less dummy, so to speak

    • That'll come with time I think Mutt. I remember PJ Marsh did that a lot when he first came down from Brisbane and was playing in the halves.
Ws have to remember he still is only 22 and has played 35 NRL games. He's still in nappies. For now he just to have Mitch's back and make his tackles.

      • PJ Marsh... such great memories of him and Dean Widders being our super subs.

        • Hey Timbo where you been brother?, I kept the Timbo cup running for a couple of seasons in your absence but let it go last season.

          • Howdy HKF! I've been reading regularly, but mostly on the fly. Decided to log in for 2021 and contribute a bit. Thanks so much for keeping the Timbo cup going. Here's hoping for a cracker season!

        • Thank god reed is running now

I hope BA gets him to watch videos of pj and dean
