Morts dropped, Mitchell to debut

Daniel Mortimer has been dropped and Anthony Mitchell will make his NRL debut off the bench for the Parramatta Eels against Brisbane this weekend.

Jeff Robson and Kris Keating will be the Eel's new half pairing, with Robson at first receiver and Keating at six.

Anthony Mitchell, a highly-touted Eels junior hooker, who has been on the outer with the Eels coaching staff for most of the year, finally gets his chance to show what he is capable of, and is likely playing for a new contract in 2011.

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

    Fuck im a genius :P

In all honesty though its about time Morts has to answer for his poor form, I know its impossible not to like him but if he plays like a reserve grader then he should be playing there aswell. Ant Mitchell is a great young player who i'm very surprised hasnt had his shot yet, dynamite out of hooker and the staff picked such a great low pressure game for him to get a run, I mean we are only playing for our season.
  • Wow. Very interested to see how this pans out, but for Morts' sake I hope he isn't discouraged. I like the kid.

Mitchell's debut is a fraction overdue though.
  • About time they show a little faith in Mitchell!!
He wouldn't be the biggest prospect coming out of the club if he didn't already prove his worth in the levels that he has played at in the NYC and for Wenty.
  • Way to go blueNgold! Finally we have a confirmed rumour or trumour, instead of the usual speculation and guessing games that have been going on lately.

Having said that though i think he will do well!
  • WHY WHY WHY has it taken so bloody long for this to happen ??????????????????????????
  • There's 250,000 reasons and an Eels Marketing Department that were probably standing in the way of Mortimer being dropped to Wenty....

I agree, should have happened 8 weeks ago.
  • about 15 rounds late, i wonder what would have happened if he was dropped earlier on he went back to nsw cup with no pressure and found his form again. Honestly i think each bad performance put more pressure on him to perform the next week. Also what if he read half these blogs he'd have 0 confidence in his ability
  • If he read these blogs this time last season he would have thought he was the next Sterlo.
  • About bloody time and brilliant like many other people. MUTTMANS article the other day was a beauty!!!!

  • Expect the rate of teenage girls who frequent our games to drop by 98% while Mortimer is out.
