Daniel Anderson said Mortimer and Robson would remain in the side for Saturday night’s home game against New Zealand due to the team’s form.``Both (Keating and Mateo) are desperately keen to play but I owe a great deal of credit to the boys who have done the job for the last month and should be given the opportunity to continue the job,’’ Anderson said.http://parramatta-advertiser.whereilive.com.au/sport/story/mortimer-robson-earn-stay-of-execution/

  • I reckon this week at least Keating will come off the bench - the player whose spot is most in danger I reckon is Kingston. Keating was first choice interchange hooker at the start of the year and he gives Parramatta more versatility off the bench because he can cover halves as well
  • I here what your saying Kenny, but i doubt Ando will drop Kingston on his current form. I would have him in the same boat as Robson and Mortimer where all 3 on form warrant continued selection in the 17. I think alot of our form has come on the back of the sucess of the M.Keating/Kingston rotation, and i wouldn't be changing that.

I'm a big believer in if it aint broke don't fix it. Perhaps this week if we struggle to score points on a currently very poor warriors outfit, then i'd bring KK into the halves with Morts and give them a crack together for the rest of the season. I know alot of people would argue that Robson really doesnt do alot, but i think his style of play gels well with Mortimer's who doesnt have the pressure of being the first point of attack, thus allowing him to chip in when needed and roam around broken play etc.

Mateo will surely come into the team for Smokin Joe, and will add even more potency to our attack.
  • I agree with the Kingston call TKBK. Although he hasn't done anything wrong and has been in good form, the spark he provides in attack can surely be provided by KK. The thing is, if Kingston is not in Parra's future plans, why would you persist with him when we will probably need KK in the side if we are to make a serious tilt at the premiership. Warriors match is arguably the easiest match we have left so now would be the time to experiment/trial new additions.
  • If the team is gelling well and wionning then you shouldn't fix it at all. Leave it for this week and see what happens, Ando will know what to do but i'd hate to see Kingston out of the side amd Tom.. why wouldn't Kingston be in Parra's future plans... where is he off too??
  • Totally agree with blueNgold, the side is going to good to chop and change, yeah KK was playing good footy but the whole team was playing crap whereas now they are playing well as a team. It's taken this long for the team to learn Ando's style of coaching just bringing KK i will just unsettle things. It's no suprise our forwards are dominating due to Robson being a typical halfback and organising the forwards.
  • Another interesting quote from this story:

Asked what it would take for Keating and Mateo to reclaim their positions, Anderson had little in reply.

``I can’t tell you that,’’ he said. ``It’s very difficult to answer that.

``The chances are a window will open for them, and they have got to be ready.’’
    • In all honesty, the smartest thing to do would be to stick with a winning formula. It would be easy to jump at the chance to have Mateo & Keating back in the side, but Anderson is doing the right thing for more than one reason.
      • I'm not sure if its the 'right thing' to do from a performance perspective, but I agree it would be unfair to drop any of the current team while they're performing so well.

From that point of view, I do respect the stance that Anderson has taken. He has consistently this year rewarded strong performers and demoted those not meeting his expectation, regardless of reputation or standing.
