Mortimer not going anywhere

I know this sounds like BS but i work with Daniels next door neighour from Orange and he has told me that daniel doesn't want to play for the dogs and will definately stay at the Eels.

  • I don't normally participate in this sort of stuff personally but I also have a friend who grew up in Orange and knows the Mortimers well. He's a Saints fan and is thus fairly ambivalent towards Mortimer, but he has said very much the same thing that a few others on this board have - that Mortimer will stay an Eel...this time.
  • F**K YEAH
  • This makes me nervous. I've had a feeling all along that if Mortimer stays we lose Mateo and/or Keating.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if we managed to somehow put the figures together to make offers to all 3 with a view to keeping all 3 with the intention of letting Inu go.It seems to me that it's now a given that Inu will be on his way elsewhere in 2011, if not even some time before season 2010 is finished.
  • when he puts pen 2 paper then i believe
  • This time? I have a bit of a problem with this. I get the impression that he eventually wants to end up at the club where his dad played, understandable.

But if it it means we lose a Mateo or KK in the meantime then Morts leaves us in a few years anyway, just doesn't sit well with me.
  • I hear what your saying Normo, but it's difficult to second-guess what the future will hold. For all we know, letting Morts go to keep Mateo and KK might backfire in so far as they get injured or decide to leave in two years time as well; whereas Morts might indicate that he'll eventually go to the Dogs but if he signs a 3 year deal and has 2 barnstorming seasons, the club upgrade him and hand him the captaincy and he might well stay for good.

At the end of the day, the club can really only make decisions on what it believes will give us the best short-term and long-term results.
    • Well I'm glad it's Ando and co who have to weigh all this up. Tbh I trust Ando to make the right decisions here.

Part of me hopes Morts does stay just to stick it to the dogs. If the "family club" as they often refer to themselves as cannot lure the son of a legend back to the kennel with a big $ offer, now that would be funny!
  • To be honest, its either Mortimer or Mateo that we can keep and really to be honest, Mateo is far more better than Mortimer.
  • To be honest, you really have no idea whether it's a case of Mateo or Mortimer! It could be Mateo or Inu, Mortimer or Keating, Mateo or Keating.

Hopefully, we'll keep the majority of them.
  • Good point, the Bulldogs are still kicking themselves for letting Thurson go to keep Anasta.
