Mortimer may announce decision on Tuesday

Brett Kimmorley is Bulldogs' lure to prize Daniel Mortimer from Parramatta Eels

Bulldogs bait ... Playing alongside Brett Kimmorley must be tempting for Parramatta Eels' talented five-eighth Daniel Mortimer.

IT'S the decision every Parramatta and Bulldogs fan has waited on for more than six months.

And as Eels star Daniel Mortimer prepares to announce where his NRL future lies, Bulldogs coach Kevin Moore has revealed the sales pitch he hopes will lure the five-eighth to the club that made his father, Peter, and uncles Steve and Chris legends.

Moore has told how he used the opportunity of working alongside veteran halfback Brett Kimmorley as a major lure to get Mortimer to join the Bulldogs next season.

Mortimer spent the weekend at home in Wagga Wagga with his family contemplating the biggest decision of his fledgling career.

It's expected the 20-year-old will announce his decision on Tuesday.

"From my point of view it would be a great opportunity for [Ben] Roberts and Mortimer to spend 12 months with one of the best halfbacks over the last 10 years," Moore said.

"I've spoken to Benny about that and I made (Mortimer) aware of that point."

Asked what was Mortimer's reaction to working in tandem with a premiership-winning halfback, Moore replied: "He doesn't say a lot, but I can't help but think he'd be excited about that."

Moore also suggested that if Mortimer did link with the blue and whites, he would find room for all three halves. "Yes, that's a distinct possibility. That's something I've spoken to all those three about."

Kimmorley is in the throes of extending his future at the club. "I think that's why I was originally brought here. To do a year or two and do some mentoring and hopefully they (Roberts or Mortimer) have someone to follow," he said.

  • of cos they will, why wouldn't they sign with a premiership force for years to come...
  • Brett kimmorly wow or be around all round great mentors like nathan hindmarsh and co
  • How would you like to be Ben Barba in all this, he is a local junior being pushed aside for Mortimer.
Barba is a massive talent, he would be good if mentored correctly?? Dogs are stupid, they also have Ben Roberts as well...
  • If Eelicit is right, and I hope he is, I gotta say hats off to Osbourne and the club for making this happen. Eelicit also mentioned possibly offloading grothe and inu, So I'll be looking on with interest on Tuesday.

Just on Mateo, and again I say if this is correct, where does he stand legally with the contracts he's already signed with Canberra and the dogs? He may want to seek some legal advice. Lol.

Personally I don't think either player has signed elsewhere as the dogs would surely anounce it immediately you would think. Parra has previously held back the anouncement of player re-signings for a timely media release, just prior to big games.
  • We still haven't had an official statement acknowledging re-signing Burt and FUI.

I expect that to happen Tues with Morts and Mateo's news.

I have also heard rumblings of a 5th re-signing but no word on who - would love for it to be KK
    • Uhm sorry to tell you this .. But Burt and Fui were in the Newspapers!
      • Yes, in the newspapers... But never any press release from the club confirming the reports .. They have signed but it's yet to be made official
    • I like rumblings. KK would have to be the 5th. Again if the tip is correct. Who else is a possibility?
      • It wont' be Kris.
        • Krisnan Inu perhaps ?
