More news regarding Hayne

NEW THEORY FOR HAYNE’S EELS PUSHA Jarryd Hayne return to Parramatta is gathering steam. It’s been widely reported that Jarryd Hayne is looking for a way out of his $1.2 million Titans contract in favour of a move home to Sydney. His partner Amellia Bonnici and their baby daughter Beliviah Ivy have moved back to the Central Coast and the Gold Coast club have confirmed they would consider a request for a release on compassionate grounds. While the Roosters, Sharks and Newcastle may all have the salary cap room to accommodate the move, the reports linking Hayne with a Parramatta homecoming are strong. And, speaking on NRL 360, senior The Daily Telegraph reporter David Riccio said there was a good reason, apart from being closer to his family, that Hayne was only interested in going back to the Eels.According to Riccio, Hayne would be prepared to take a significant pay cut to link with the only club capable of rebuilding his tarnished brand.“I see this Parramatta deal as almost a legacy contract,” Riccio said.“Where that brand and that reputation, which is so muddied right now, he can go back to Parramatta, the club that gave him his start and he can rebuild his image in the last few seasons of his career.“It would be on the basis of a half a million dollar a year pay cut.”NRL 360 host Paul Kent said there’d be plenty of upside for Parramatta should they choose to bring Hayne back.Upside to“Parramatta’s a club without a major sponsor,” Kent said.“If they land Jarryd, and this is the enigma of the guy, it’s immediately going to have this burst of publicity and exposure.“Whoever comes in as the major sponsor will get good value for money.”

  • Bring him home
  • Our prodical son. Has he learnt anything?
  • Its interesting reading that Easts and Cronulla have room in their cap; i assume this is dependent on moving on players....

    • It's a result of having salary sombreros Mitchy.
  • ha yes; one of my favourite Seinfeld shows the Urban Sombrero; interesting seeing P Kent being positive about Parra it seems.

  • Gee that Paul Kent is a knob, one minute he bagging the guy & Parra for thinking of signing him & the next it all sweet for Parra to sign Hayne!!
    • Kent will wait for Hayne to fail and then lay the boot in, don't worry!

    • Scum!
  • At his best he would be a good recruit. But does he fit in to the team, what position does he play and at who's expense. He would cost too much to put on the wing and his best position is fullback so where does this leave Guth when he is fit and French! Guth to centre, he fills in okay at centre but is not a fulltime centre. Guth to fullback Hayne to centre Taka to bench and French to 1 wing could work though I believe French has to bulk up to play wing so this is plausible. Does he fit the team and culture? Not too sure about this, a big gamble if he is toxic like everyone says and has not grown up and is a team player.

  • Interesting comments about his brand. I posted this comment in a Hayne blog back in Feb.

"LOL I think it has probably started sinking in for Judas that his brand 'Hayne' means nothing and is worth nothing.

Had he returned to Parra like he promised, he would have been welcomed back with open arms. More than likely he would have been assured a job for life with the club, along with being revered as a club legend with a stand named after him.

The problem for Judas is the majority of Australians like a man of their word, so he broke his and back flipped for a few 100k extra for 2 years he totally alienated his core supporter base as well as a large section of the general public."

That said I am willing to take him back for the right price and if he plays for the team - not just himself.

So it becomes more clearer, the $300k offered from Melbourne included $211,000 of that going towards Matterson's contract and $89,000 as a transfer fee. Instead of what we thought of $300k transfer fee and maybe taking Matto as well. So many felt…

"Yeah he shanked a kick last week but nailed one last night. He is a confident player and goes back to the well to try things he stuffed up previously and improves.
TDS can look hesitant at times and that is confidence and that will come in time. He…"
