The chances of Mitchell Moses featuring for NSW in the State of Origin opener have taken another hit, with the Eels halfback set to miss the side's Magic Round clash.
The 29-year-old has been sidelined since round three with a foot injury and is closing in on a return, but Nine reporter Danny Weidler revealed on Monday that Parramatta won't be rushing him back for their showdown with the Storm on Sunday afternoon.
If he misses the trip to Brisbane, Moses would have just one game to stake his claim for a spot in the Blues lineup as the race to replace the injured Nathan Cleary heats up.

We can't make the 8 I'd rather he play this year than next.
We can make the 8, obviously that means winning but we are only 3 points outside the 8 right now with 15 rounds to go
BA out thinking NSW blues with this one imo. No way NSW pick him off 80 minutes of footy. Means Mitch will be available for us v sharks lol. Need to build some momentum
I wouldn't be rushing Moses back at all. You have to finish top 4 to win the comp and we aren't doing that so effectively the season is over for us. I wouldn't be rushing Gutho back in either. In fact with Gutho id be tempted to give him the whole year off to see if he can get the knee right for one last big season next year.
Our season is over and with or without Moses, the Storm are going to slaughter us so there is absolutely no reason to bring him back early. Give him another couple of weeks off.
Only a couple of games out of the top 8, most teams are pretty injured like us as well. Just need to string together some wins once Moses guth back 🤣
Yes. We can win this comp and we will win this comp, and we may very well do it from 5-8. Stay the course!
Seriously, What are you on?
Mushrooms?
Uppers?
Downers?
All Arounders?
Astounders! As will most here when the tide turns- have faith.
Thanks Brad!
