Mitch Moses

Two criticisms that get levelled at Parramatta are:

1. We don't have a superstar.

2. Moses is a flat track bully who wilts in the big games.

The effect of the above is that we are always going to be long odds to beat the best teams on the big stage.

However, Moses' current form (if he keeps it up) has the ability to cure both those problems. He has always had ridiculous ability, but struggled to play with composure against good defences and/or would go missing. Now, he seems to be playing with a great balance of composure and attacking flare. His kicking game is great (statistically the best for metres gained), his rainbow/harbour bridge ball is fantastic, he plays the short ball at the right times, and his running game and speed has defences scared of his next move.

If he keeps this up, he may become a bonefide superstar, not too dissimilar to how Cleary is viewed.

Can't wait to see how he goes this weekend. If he fires again, I give us a great chance against Penrith.

  • Moses still has a long way to go to be a superstar. Last weekend was the first time he even resembled a dominant halfback. If he can play like that for 12 months then we can talk superstar status.

Maybe his balls have finally dropped though, it was great to watch him run straight.

    • I agree with the sentiment, but not the detail. I thought he stood up in origin this year (particularly given the injury he suffered) and was good in both games against Melbourne this year, in addition to his performance against the knights on the weekend.

Agree he has a while to go, but he is certainly heading in the right direction and has the raw talent to make it happen. Fingers crossed.

    • First time? Geez you're a hardcmsrker Wiz

    • The last three games he has played he has been the Eels best player. This includes the game against Storm

He is finally playing injury free. Unlike last year

  • I still don't understands why he's basically the only regular kicker who never puts up torp or floating bomb. It's significantly harder to catch those over simple end over end kick.

  • That try he scored was special. If that was tommy turbo or ponga they'd still be talking bout it.

    • Totally agree Josh, If that try was scored by Turbo or Tedesco the media would still be carrying on like star struck teens. Moses does a great job and his stats show it, the team has been in the top 8 ( Mostly top 4 ) for the last 3 seasons but it's the Eels so the boot gets put in every chance they get. Last season we lose Fergo, Sivo and Jennings for the second final but it turns out the issue is Moses can't produce in the big games. Give me a break.

    • Lol. Pretty spot on.

    • That is a pretty accurate depiction of myself on Sunday when I saw this try, the only difference was I had a 75" monitor and a beer in the other hand 🍆💦. I also went again when Penisini laid that pass on for Fergo
