Mitch Cornish

With the current topic being our new half for next year, has everyone forgotten Cornish? We signed him last year and everyone rated him as a good depth option. He has played well for Wenty in the games he hasn't been injured and was a major reason for their early season form. He has a good kicking game and runs the ball. Defence is his weakness. Just wondering if he is being moved on, and if not, is he in consideration to make the step up? He seems to be the forgotten man and frankly, why not Cornish, instead of going out and buying a Sam Williams type who is not that much better?

  • I think he will be moved on to be honest i think kelly will be resigned and with the young bloke from qld foggerty signed as a 5/8 he will probably be moved on.
  • BA is a big believer in defence first. Unfortunately Cornish hasn't improved in the area so he won't see first grade and will most probably be moved on.
  • I hope we keep Cornish and let go kelly

  • Simply not first grade standard, an experiment that didn't work out.

  • I actually hear he's a chance of being around next year. He's had such a wretched season with injury, I'd still like to see what he is capable of producing with another Eels pre-season under his belt.

    • Do you think that maybe Fogarty was then signed to play fullback? If Cornish is still here you'd have to think we either keep Robson or Kelly.

Wouldn't be a bad move, I don't think we have an ISP fullback for mext season.
  • Cornish is twice the player that Marshell and Kelly are and Cornish has another year of development left before blood in late next year...
  • I like him, worth keeping. Kelly bye bye

    • Me too!  Played with limited opportunity although he seemed to have a monkey on his back ! .... however Kelly has never had any mojo ... a bit like Keating and Penna from the past !
