I've tried to blog about this game a couple of times, and I've just not been able to do it. I've still got that deep, bitter hurt in the pit of my stomach that right now is just refusing to go away.
Being knocked out of contention is always difficult. But sometimes you're just not up there and you know that even if you scrape into the finals, your just going to get booted out in the first week by one of the quality teams. But I've believed earnestly and sincerely that right up until the 80th minute of that football match against the Tigers, that this team would go on and win this years premiership.
And for 20 minutes of that game on Sunday, the Eels showed why. Really, they were awesome in that final quarter. Suddenly they were carving up a defence which had been absolutely rock solid. And they were doing it with ease. This was the team I see on paper, performing like I have expected them to week in, week out. Playing with speed, flair and passion. Tahu, Mateo, Moimoi found new gears and the rest of the side went with them.
But the reality is if you play on the knife's edge, eventually your going to slip. And that's it. Your gone. Last year, we played on the knife's edge and we were good enough not to slip until the final hurdle. I'll always say we lost that game from being to conservative. I don't know why this team slips into its shell until all seems lost.
So I have this one message to the team. When you run out against Souths, forget about settling in. Forget about percentage football. Just rip in. Smoke them. Rip them to shreds. Because you know what? A 40 point victory would make the last round very interesting. At the very least, it will let us rock up to Caylo's last game with some hope in our heart. I believe its in you. If you boys believe the same, who knows? Miracles never cease.

Ok ok ok....as i type and think about it I'm starting to see a small light at the end of the long tunnel , there is still a chance......yes there is still a chance , we have hope! and we must always keep hope in our hearts while your alive you keep on fighting and never ever give up.
Ok boys and girls lets not get into a rut because you know what a rut is? its a coffin with no ends! And we are not dead yet! so come on support 1eyed's stance and support the boys all the way to the end!
BTW, it was great to finally meet some of the 1Eyed family on Sunday arvo. Despite the loss, I felt okay on Sunday. Today was a different story though :-(
Ain't over till the fat lady sings.
She's getting pretty damn close to her opening act though, so we might want to prolong that.
We all know that the Eels have the potential! It would be great to see them win, to be realistic we need:
EELS TO WIN LAST 2 ( BY ALOT WOULD BE GREAT!!)
and
FOR EACH OF THE: KNIGHTS, RAIDERS, WARRIORS SEA EAGLES to at least have a better chance.
If we knock the Souths and Warriors out... You never know...
