I'm currently having some 'Prostate' issues guys. It unfortunately tends to happen to a vast majority of the male population especially as they get older. I'm just wondering if any of you men have also had any 'Prostate' related issues and if any have undergone an MIR scan of the Prostate? I have to have an MIR scan done either next week or the week after and it's kind of freaking me out. Not only the procedure of the scan itself which generally takes 30-45 minutes requiring lying on your back in a huge tunnel with headphones on because it's apparently quite noisy and hoping not to get chlostrophobia but also hoping the test doesn't detect and of the horrible 'C' word. I've been kind of diagnosed with BPH ( Enlarged Prostate) which is generally not cancerous but if your PSA levels in your blood tend to rise they ( the specialists) suggest further testing to rule out the 'C' word. Anyway guys I would really appreciate any advice ( sensible), your thoughts and prayers at this time. If any of you have gone through similar issues I'd love to hear your stories. I just hope none of this is related or triggered by 36 years of Eels premiership drought otherwise we are all stuffed.

Thanks Wong, appreciate your encouragement
No mate I've not but have my bloods test for this one each 6 months, and I'm just 50.
hope all goes well mate and just ensure you ask as many question as you need to. Cheers mate
Hope your blood tests continue to be normal. I wish I would have known more about the prostate thing when I was younger. I've never really noticed much media awareness for men about the prostate and the importance of have the blood tests done
PT all ok for me this far but I take nothing for granted. Ask as many questions as you need to and only take the facts as gospel, none of this Doc Google crap mate and just take it easy. We all have some issues from
time to time.
PT ,
I absolutely dred MRI . Hate them with a passion . You can ask for sedation where you get a little bit of assistance to calm you . This very fear of Mri is so common they allocate a full day once a week to sedated scans. Good luck mate . They say early detection is the key . Hope you don't have it mate . Good luck
Thanks Paul. I hope I don't either mate. There's only my wife and I at home now and our dog. All our kids have grown up and making their own lives. I don't want to have to leave my wife on her own if something were to happen to me. The thought alone really breaks my heart. I've read that the MRI can be noisy and chlostrophobic. I'm not sure whether I should get sedated or not. They also drug you with something and you can't eat or drink anything the morning of the scan. Also have to have laxettes the night before. Sounds like 1 huge party. Maybe the Eels need some laxettes to get em playing better. Have you had an MRI yourself?
Good luck PT. MRI scans are painless obviously. They can feel a little claustrophobic but if you close your eyes and focus on your breathing you'll be ok. Let the Radiographer know you're claustrophobic, they'll chat to you throughout.
The thing to remember with prostate is even if cancer is detected it is almost always very treatable and remains localised. It's not like other type of cancer. Sending my best wishes.
Thanks Muttman. I'm not normally Chlostrophobic but because I'm unsure of the MRI procedure I'm not really sure how I'm actually going to react. I wouldn't mind actually going and checking one out before hand. The C word freaks me out mate. I'm not normally scared of much. I think it's the thought of leaving my wife , kids and grandchildren behind. Mate it's really gut wrenching. Crying over the Eels performances is nothing compared with this. 😥
Do exactly like Muttman said.
I'm claustrophobic and had an MRI done.
Close your eyes before you enter the machine and concentrate on your breathing and the music.
As long as you do that you will be fine mate.
Hope it all goes well brother.
Thanks Bem. I'll definitely try to remain calm and not freak out
