I've been waiting for this to go main stream but it has seemingly been left to go under the radar other than a small couple of news outlets. . The other day The Titans axed Mal Smellmefinger. Talk about a protected species in tne media , you'd think Des Hasler the new kid on the block axing Mal Meninga would be a pretty hot topic considering the airplay Holbrooks axing got . Months and months ago I said that Meninga would be lucky to last half the season as he has called all the shots on recruitment and even to an extent team lists up there and there's no way on Earth that Hasler would let his career hinge on what players that moron let him keep , release , or recruit.
Massive conflict of interest when he's living in Canberra , is best mates with Stuart , and was releasing players of the calibre of their star half back to Canberra , hiring plodder Canberra old boys as assistant coaches , and then hiding in the shadows exempt of critisisim when it all goes pear shaped. He released theor halfback after they had a blinder of as season preferring they used a QLD player in Ssxton because Meningas friends with Sextons old man.
There are big name players up there that absolutely rejected Mals methods , it came down to a massive blow up between Hasler and Mal and Mal lost. It should be the one of the biggest stories in Rugby Leqgue right now , Hasler and Meninga trading barbs at training , but as usual Mals untouchable.
I hope Brett White didn't get too settled up there being a Mal appointmentment.

I remember Chris Page, who was on Triple M Grill team and with the professor on Matty Johns show, said he would walk past Mal at fox a fair bit and one day they made a Meninga joke and when he walked past him Mal said "Oh it's the funny man" but in a stern voice and straight face. Page laughed about it and was saying he is Mal just got to take it and that.
It showed how humourless and miserable of a man he is. Great player but also overdone a lot, that gave him the thought he was a messiah. Even worse was his QLD coaching tenure where a homeless man from Madagascar who got off the boat the day of team selections could have led that team featuring a spine of Slater, Thurston, Cronk and Smith to 7 in a row. Yet Meninga was hailed a genius, despite Cam Smith and Michael Hagan addressing the team with Meninga in the corner. When brought up by Kent that the players are more the reason for the series, Corey Parker nearly popped an artery defending Meninga that it was all him etc.
Just an absolute joke of a person. The fact he is an immortal before Kenny or Sterling is an insult also. He was a great player, one of the best Centres ever, but man is he overstated.

Matty Johns told the story on a podcast about a Kangaroo tour where Meninga was captain, he wasn't there but got told, and Meninga was giving nicknames to players based on there names and laughing about it. One player did it for him and apparently he went off his mind about it and gave him the riot act.
I think they are scared of him as to how he has gotten to where he is.
Meninga is a dope. Zero insights as a commentator, Australian Coach is basically a ceremonial role. No genuine coaching ability required. He's been stealing from the Titans for years. Des was 100% correct in getting rid of him
