Memories.....The stories in my mind

I have written a few blogs lately and being an optimist I like to look at things in that fashion, hopefully with some logic and hope.

Firstly I want no one to say "I told you so" everyone has a view and the negative ones have been vindicated this time. Face it you guys have to get it right some times.

I have based most of my Unicorn support towards BA  on the basis that there is no one better.....

After last night and probably the the last half dozen games I have concluded that we now have no choice but to change....piss BA off and put Barrett in charge . Simple fix if Barrett has half a brain he would have witnessed enough to figure out what he needs to do. He is the obvious choice not because of his track record but because he has seen enough of what is going wrong to know something about arresting it.The only other person who could do the job is Ryan Carr who would also have a good understanding of the how the club works. This would be either a one year fix or fail.

After listening to BA last night saying he didn't know what went wrong and the excuses are "no excuses" he has surrendered and therefore needs to finish now.Forget the contract for BA, that is a very affordable get out and he deserves his one year bonus for the toil he has put in. It gives us time also for the players to make decisions on him not being there before they start talking about options, anyone want to go, now is the time, you are either with us or against us. It gives us the opportunity of having this coming year of getting it right without BA whereas if he sees out his 1 year then we are 12 months behind in the healing process. That one year also gives us time for us to have a look around.

Now we may have some problem in recruiting in such a "insecure process" but we need on November 1 put a few players on the market and for sale.....if we have to pay to do this so be it.....Sivo, Simmonson, Asi, two or 3 forwards that won't make it and players like Dunster and Hodson medically retired or transferred.

We need to recuit and who ever that is they need to pass some sort of footie IQ Test, we are the worst defensibe side in terms of players hitting and sticking that I have seen in my memory and the left edge exposure last night was beyond anyone's imagination since I been watching this team in over 70 years. My memory is not great anymore and I am sure we have had worse, just can't remember when.

If BA was saying and meaning last night that the "EFFORT" was there, then he is with me in the dementia ward!

I am looking forward to the remedies we undertake, not to the decisions we do not make......Act now.....I will be back next year (god willing) and they will have my support, this year there were circumstances beyong our control but the one thing for certain wether or not the EFFORT was there, THE CATTLE certainly are not!

  • The problem is poppa, he has until 2025 here mate, two more years.  Unbelievable.  I would pay the dope out regardless . He should fall on his sword anyway and just admit its what's best for the club moving forward

    • Most people fall off their chair or take a dive when I talk Chiefy, so your choices are sound LOL

  • I dont disagree for most of this. I was waiting for BA to say something, anything other than his usual 'effort was there'. The effort was only there for a handful of players and the coach is lost for what can be done to fix it.

I personally dont have faith in Barrett, hopefully he has learnt from his time at the Bulldogs where his knowledge gaps are...

  • Some tough decisions need to be made regarding the coach and certain players. I'm concerned that contractually speaking we've gone down a particular path (in some cases for several years) and it might be difficult to go in a different direction.

    • I think I know what you mean Adam but the longer term players like Moses, Brown to an extent Gutho and Paulo not the problem although Junior is a worry.

I also know the thoughts that probably exist on Barrett but i hope (without really knowing) that he has more to offer off the back of his initial experiences. I think BA is maybe a good lesson for him as long as he does not follow his stubborness and lack of imagination and lateral thinking.

No easy answers but as you know I am a punter!

  • Just so I'm clear before offering my opinion on this , your stance is the Head of football gig is manned by a guy who's fine and capable to hold that role ?
