Sir Col
Hi mate, so I contacted Jim Sarantinos at the club who is aware Col has passed. I floated the idea of organising something for Col at our next home game and he seems open to it. Would you be in a position to ask the family if they would like something done for him on game day? Not sure what it could be yet. Might just be a mention over the PA or something on the big screen before kick off.
Jim also asked to pass on his and the club's condolences to the family.
Sir Col
Thanks Elliott,
I have left a message with Adrianna encompassing your last message and thanking Jim Saratinos for his kind thoughts and the clubs willingness to do something.
I have also communicated to her that realistically either of the things mentioned would be great with probably something on the big screen a preference.
On a personal note I will put your message to me to the "sadness" blog as it demonstrates to our members yours and the clubs efforts in this arena.
I think this is important because realism says you can do no more than you have.
The memorial for Sir Col will be at the Belvedere Hotel, Woody Point, Qld..... Woody Point is in the Northern end of Moreton Bay, on the Brisbane side of Redcliffe, my guess is a 35 minute trip from Brisbane Airport. It is scheduled for 2pm on Tuesday 8th June and is open to family and friends.
I will be attending and speaking as a friend of Sir Col's and an informal representative of the one eyed eel. There is a Parramatta Table (its not a sit down to my understanding). The Parramatta table will be more a display of his Parra Memorabilia , both personally and sent by our members through this time.
As I write this I am thinking that if you would like to do a very simple couple of Paragraphs as the CEO of the One Eyed Eels which explains what Sir Col represented to our site. I will duly embellish all this in what I say.... but to actually read it as a message from someone important, you might add your convo with Jim Saratinos it will maybe an "eyes up" into to just what he meant to us.....and the Parramatta District Football Club and not just a message by me, a mate on a football supporters site.
I also think I will publish all this transcript that I'm writing now to give ownership to all the members so they may all feel part of the celebration of Colin Hewitt's life or as we know Sir Col the Mushroom.
Regards David (Poppa)
PS Any of our members that have specific stories or anecdotes they would like to tell, please do so on this Blog and I will endeavour to read some of the highlights if appropriate at the time.
