Hi my name is groundy and im sixteen years old i've been visiting this site for around a year but only became a member of this site a short time ago. I have liked the mighty eels ever since i can remember even though i live in norh queensland. I only get to watch the eels at a stadium every second year because they only come to townsville every second year. Its an hour drive to get there but we go to every eels game and the next morning me and my family go see the eels the next morning after the game. They are all really nice and when Finch was still at the club I remember him stopping to sign autographs for the fans even though he was running late to hop on the bus to go to the airport. I thought it was really nice of him. There have been eels staff who have actually remembered my family from previous years. My thoughts on season 2010 are that it looks promissing for the eels to do really well this year. They have recruited and retained key players that i believe are important if parra are going to win this years final. I believe with the buys of poore shackelton and tahu the eels can go that one step further then last year and win the well deserved premiership. My favourite player would have to be Daniel mortimer and Jarrryd hayne. I like Daniel mortimer because he is an exciting young product who plays in the halves and i because i have played at hooker and in the halves the whole time ive played footy. Jarryd hayne is my other favourite because i love the way he can create an oppurtunity out of nothing and be so hard to tackle from basically a stand still start.
my name is Ben and im 25. Been visiting this site for years. Been a huge parra fan since i was a kid. bit of a tragic.... eels number plates, heaps of memorabilia, used to go all games but moved north few years ago so dont get to as many games as i would like. even got myself an eels tattoo a week ago. cant get enough of parra! My partner thinks im crazy. esp in off season when struggling with withdrawal where i watch parra games from the 80s and last seasons games i taped or come up on fox replays.
I dont like saying we will win it this year cos there has been many years recently where we finished well one year and struggled the next. 07 is a good example. i would like us to start a bit better this year and not give the rest a big head start and i think we can as daniel has been head coach for a year and players know what to expect.
Consistency is what i would like to see. It would be good to see if we can play a lot of our games where we play well for 60 and 70mins rather than one half, 80 would be great! My fave player would have to be Luke Burt. Has been since 99 when he visited our high school with a broken arm i think! He just seems to wear his heart on his sleeve. Puts in week in week out without really taking much of the lime light. A real clubman too. Of course i love Hindy too. Anyway thats enough of me. Great to see this site has really taken off. Especially towards the end of last year.
Hi Guys,
I'm Garry from up at Lismore way. I'm 50 and followed Parra with a passion for every one of those 50 years. Born in Westmead hospital and grew up in Rosehill within sight of the racecourse. My dad started taking me to Cumberland Oval with his mates to see the Eels before I could walk, and as a kid I idolised the Thornett Bros, ....I have followed Parra with a mad passion even though I left Parra as a teen. I have watched and followed them through some of the floggings they got in the 60's and 70's, the heartbreak of the replayed final, to the glory days of the 80's and onwards. I made it to the GF in 1982 and have fond memories of the Manly fans getting an absolute verbal hammering from the Blue & Gold army as they filed out early from the SCG.
I think we are a tremendous, tremendous chance this year....I truly belive that this will be something special for the Eels and can't wait for the season to start. As I said, I have followed them for a loooong time, so have a host of favourite players...but aside from the obvious stars have a liking for the unobtrusive hard-working club-men.........Steve Ella, Peter Wynn, Steve Edge, Bob O'Reilly, Ken and Dick Thornet and Nathan Hindmarsh are just some.
LOVE THE EELS!!!! And proud and excited to be a one-eyed fanatic, and I really enjoy sharing the passion with the other Eels fans on this site....Parra fans young and old are the most lyal and passionate in the world and their faith will be rewarded in Spetember this year iam sure...Go boys!!!!
Cheers guys
Hi fellow eels supporters, Have followed my team for over 30 years and can say Im lucky to have seen them win 4 grand finals in the 80s and witnessed the burning down of Cumberland Grandstand in their memorable 1981 premiership win. Have instilled my love of Parramatta into 2 of my 3 children who now love them as much as I do. We have been season ticket holders for the past 7 years and I cant wait to get to Parra Stadium again this year, love the feel of the crowd and the atmosphere that builds into the game. There have been many highlights as a tragic eels supporter but I do think that fairytale run at the end of last year had my heart pounding and I had this undeniable confidence with each win no one could stop us, hope we can continue this feeling on in 2010. Go Parra !!!
My name is chuk, 21 years young and been visiting the site since 2005!..
I log in almost every day and most of the time several times a day to keep up with anything to do with my beloved eels! Look forward to contributing to the blogs in the future, cheers :)
Hey everyone - I'm Raffy, grew up in Rocky, QLD but now live in San Diego, California (married a local gal so stuck here now - baby eel # 1 due in April!!)
Been an Eels tragic all my life, and the hardest thing about leaving Oz 8 years ago was no longer being able to get down to Parra stadium for the games. Best I can rely on here are highlights from Wide World of Sports site + the occasional game on Setanta Sports (which stopped televising last Sunday!)
Very optimistic about our chances for 2010; not too concerned about our form in the trials, but that said our first games against the Dragons is a must-win to get the season off to a winning start! I fly back to Sydney each year for the grand final; although last year I decided to go to Melbourne as my brothers wanted to try the AFL GF instead - it was end of August when this all went down & they convinced me that Parra would not make the GF & go to Melbourne instead. Yeh, well - rest is history!!
Favourite player(s) - the usual suspects.......Hindy & Fui......very excited with some of the younger blokes coming up this year.
I am Schmoo.......i have been on this site for the past couple of seasons.
Thoughts this year......well making it to another Grand Final would be nice but will settle for Top 8 finish first and staying injury free into the finals then we will give it a good shake again!!
Fav Player is or was Brett Plowman ( was the best winger in the game at 150kgs )
I like long walks down Church St to Parra Stadium
I like watching our 86 Grand Final win over the Dogs 4-2.
I like eating last years meat pies from the ground in the firstfew rounds of the comp.
I like miss the first 5 mins of the game because the beer line is too long...
I DON'T like Tony Archer.....
Good luck to the Mighty Blue n Gold in 2010!!!!!!!
"I agree and never have I ever suggested that we were close to a Premiership after BA. I do have an issue with how the BA situation was handled. Through a lack of decisiveness (or Board experience) we threw away 2024 completely. Wasted an entire…"
"Your last paragraph sums it up well for me.
Regarding forwards, specfically middles, I am pretty set on us not signing many, especially "big boppers".
I'd replace Paulo with another elite prop for 2027, a few off contract then. but even then maybe…"
