Members Day - Saturday 14th - Eels Blogs

A member/fan event was held at the club today. I must say that it was a very small attendance, with maybe 100 or so there.Along with Brad Arthur, there were a number of players in attendance - Corey, Tepai, Junior, Manu, Buretta along with Bevan French, Alex Twal, Kelepi Tanginoa, Cody Nelson, James Hasson and Mitch Cornish (have I missed someone?)The question and answer section was hosted by Nathan Cayless and Luke Burt.Brad Arthur focussed on the need to be more disciplined in every aspect of our preparation as well as our matches. Our penalty count deficits are being treated as something that is in our hands to correct.Of the players who spoke, interesting comments were made by Hasson and Cornish.Hasson spoke about how dated Manly's training methods were in comparison to Parra's. He also said that the Parramatta facilities were a step up.Cornish said that it was different to Canberra in seeing how the players respond to Brad Arthur, that when he speaks everyone buys into what he has to say. Now, of course you expect a new player to praise his new coach, but to hear the comment phrased as a comparison to Stuart was interesting.The small number of fans in attendance was disappointing but it did offer more of an opportunity to mingle with some of the players afterwards.

"I'm not entirely sure Lomax lost a lot of money. There's talk about a golden handshake and a signing bonus with R360. I think more will come to light over the next few weeks or months, but I think Lomax will pick and choose what he wants to do next.…"

It's been raining for the past two days so I wouldn't be surprised to see a low attendance on a rainy Saturday morning.

  Given it was held in the auditorium, it was surprisingly small. Now it was advantageous in not dealing with huge numbers of fans. Strangely enough, it was much better for those there today than it is for those at the January fan day with thousands in attendance.

I made it down. Was good to hear the comments. I was actually surprised that many showed up due to the weather. I guess because there wasnt much focus on players being there and also people really dont want to attend these things just games. Its more people who are interested in the comings and goings of the minds of the coaches then just player meet and greets.

I was thinking about heading to the saleyards on monday and watching abit of the training session.

  If I had known that you were there I would have tried to say g'day. If you pop down to training, just make sure that you keep to the appropriate areas. They are going to a camp at some time in the next few weeks. Not sure what week it is though.

  Thanks Alan. It was interesting to listen to those new blokes speak. Junior is always good on the microphone. Ma'u is a man of few words.
  I'm not a take a photo with a player type of bloke. Just had a quick chat with BA and Kelepi.

  Back at work now. Only got down to training this week as I had the day off due to medical appointments. I didn't write a blog about it as they aren't doing much team work yet. It's lots of fitness, tackle drills and a small amount of ball work.
  I'll get down there regularly in January during my holidays.
