Melbourne Suspensions?

Just thought of an idea. As its starting to seem like melbourne dont care about being suspended anymore they could just go out and hurt a top player for no reason. So i think if a melbourne player gets suspended its should carry over to next year. So if they get 8 weeks that is 8 weeks next year. Thoughts??

  • I agree something needs to happen because Billy Slater was not someone who gave a toss about being suspended when he launched one of the most cowardly shots I have ever seen at Hayne.

The NRL judiciary tend to, for some strange reason, base a lot of their decision making on the result of a persons action i.e did it connect and what was the result. By that criteria Slater might even avoid suspension - I reckon he should get 6 weeks.
  • I'm not sure this is the answer but something has to happen. Friday night showed the true colours of how both Storm players and their opposition are feeling. There is a lot of anger and frustration on both sides but one side (the Storm) have, as Cameron Smith put it, 'nothing to lose'. Someone with nothing to lose becomes a lot more dangerous and basically the more bitter the players get, the more aggressive I can see this getting.

They have the rest of the year to find ways to spur themselves on; targeting individuals. settling vendettas...where is the line drawn when you've got nothing to lose?

This was bound to happen and it's up to the Storm and the NRL to find a way out of this. The only way I can see at the moment is to stop the Storm playing all together and to absolve all competition points won or lost against them this year.

Something has to happen because there is no way Slater & Co would have tried so many dog acts if they were playing for points. They are starting to play like a bitter bunch of thugs out to get revenge and unfortunately it could have cost us some injuries and suspensions.
  • To be honest I don't think that the Storm players would do that. What we saw between Slater and Hayne was an example of a heated rivalry and a bit of the NSW v Qld stuff of Origin. It's obvious that Hayne's place in an Australian side predominantly comprised of Qlders is begrudgingly tolerated, and on an evening such as Friday's, that resentment was always going to demonstrate.

I don't like a lot of the Storm players but I respect them and don't imagine they would purposefully aim to hurt their opponents - many of whom are probably their personal friends.
  • Yeah but the fact is the still are not gonna care if they get suspended. Maybe they should serve it this year and next year. Cause than they cant go out and do it as many times this year. But still get punished next year. But saying that would a club wanna sign a player that cant play for the first 8 weeks. Imagaine signing greg inglis costing the club heaps and than having him miss a third of the season. But bringing this in would make the players think.
  • HOW ABOUT TRIPLE FINE THEM ? THEY HAVE EXTRA MONEY FROM THEIR CONTRACTS - OR THEY DONATE ALL EXTRA MONEYS TO CHARITY
