Medical retirement in NRL

What's this crap I'm reading that Souths will have Inglis' money to purchase another player whilst other clubs like Manly for Matai and Brett Stewart and Newie for Nathan Ross couldn't take them off the books despite their retirement from the game?

This is not a "level" playing field. Some clubs are more equal than others.

It really pisses me off if you add the Sharks cap rorting scandal which won them a premiership whilst we got fist-f*cked hard with points deduction, a massive fine and a stripped 9's title.

  • I'm not surprised at all. The NRL is a live soap opera. The script is written ( outcome of the game ) The director ( Refs ) knows what the end result should be and that's just game day. Then there is the inconsistancies in the way they treat different clubs. I might be totally off the mark but if it looks like a duck & it quacks like a duck it's usually a duck.

  • Not only that.  Inglis has been offered an ambassador role at Souths on pretty big coin.  What is strange about that is the CEO of tigers got fired for offering Robbie Farrah an ambassador role at conclusion of career.  Tigers got punished with salary cap breaches for the offer as well yet now Souths do it and it's all ok.

There may be small differences in cases however the NRL seem to be making types up as they go depending on which clubs are affected.

    • They can't be allowed to pull that off. Firstly he'd need a character reference from someone senior in the NRL.

    • The difference is Robbie Farah was ready getting paid for that role. Totally different circumstances.

      • No wasn't paid for it and it's fact it's still hypothetical as hasn't taken up the role

        • I thought the issue with Ribbie was that the  Tigers went to the NRL asking for cap relief when Robbie  went to Souths claiming they needed to let him go because he was a distabilising influence on the team. The NRL gave the Tigers cap relief only to find out the Tigers had made a deal to bring him back in a embassador capacity.

I don’t know about you guys but having an embassador that is a distabilising influence on the club is a strange one.

  • Parra used the sane loophole with Anthony Watmough

So  stop acting like a crying little bitch

    • I thought we lost that one. By any event by the time they decided it was no good to us anyway

      • Yeah because the team was still being investigated/under the microscope for cheating the cap.

Had it been Manly in Parras position and the ntl immediately let them claim an injury retirement the people on this site would've complained instantly because the Eels have the biggest whinging fan base in the NRL.

        • Might be a good idea to check out some other fan forums....
