To be honest I am surprised we are favourites this weekend with betting agencies.
In past years the Eels haven't handled the media hype! The Roosters haven't been that impressive. They've certainly had the favour of the ref! and the team's they've been playing have been average. Raiders have been good and Manly have relied on the Doobie Bros!
Roosters , Raiders and manly to a lesser degree have all proven themselves against top side's , they have won and played on grand finals so why wouldn't they be talks up ?
What has Parra done ? They have played 3 crap sides and the last time they played a top side they got humiliated in all facets of the game so what exactly are we meant to be praising right now ?
Parra play Manly who unlike the last time they the eels played will be at full strength , the last Parra played Manly at full strength they were made to look like a park footy side and the game was over after 20mins .
Wait and see how they perform against a topish side Manly on Saturday then judge if they have improved from last year.
As the one of the greatest sporting coaches of all time Vince Lombardi once said " you judge yourself against the best"
Roosters have proven themselves against top sides? You are obviously talking about previous seasons and not this one. Roosters have beaten a broncos side with 2.5 million dollars of edge forwards out. This Manly team hasn't really proven themselves yet either. Canberra is the ones to beat so far.
I never look at who we are playing more how we are playing. Our defence is working well we are holding possession and field position and we are playing for each other. When these things are happening you win more games than you lose. I'd rather be under the radar.
The Roosters have earned the respect, they are two time defending champioins, and they are well and truly back to their best.
The Raiders were grand finalists last year and have improved with the addition of George Williams. They deserve the respect.
Manly are always a tough opponent under Dessie's coaching.
We've still got some points to prove. The only way to get that respect is to keep winning.
History tells us that the we don't perform well when we have high expectations set upon us. Let the the media talk about others.
We've been talked up all season thus far and have gotten better each week.
