McGuire back where it all began: Sportsnewsfirst

AFTER a four year stint in the English Super League with Catalans Dragons, utility Casey McGuire is returning to where his career first began to the club he debuted for in 1998.

Instead, the 30-year-old is back in the NRL to stamp his authority and leave his mark.

“I really want to be a big contributor to the team, I don’t want to be in and out,” he told Sportsnewsfirst.com.au.

“So no, (there are) no plans to retire yet.

“Hopefully I play well and get another offer... I’ll just take it year by year.”

  • Although Casey is a different player to Kevin Kingston I think he'll play with the passion and desire that KK had when he was with us, as if he was playing for his future in the NRL.  You could say the same thing about Carl Webb and hopefully Maitua too.  We could have some rough diamonds that are going to shine next year!!

  • Casey is a classy player - I am quite excited about him playing for us. He was very highly thought of at the Bronocos and I really think he is a starter in this team. Strong defender, very good support player and a ' football brain ' with some vision around the rucks.

Going well at traiing too which is what you want to see when someone returns on a 1 year deal

  • How did he go in england?
  • By plane I suspect!

  • Hahahahaahaa

  • The recent pattern has been that every second season since 2005 we have had a brilliant year, so its our turn again me suspects, even if our back-line looks light. I predict Murray to excel at half, or maybe even Bruest, and Mcguire to be our new KK.....Parra r waay better off as under-dogs in that we gel as a team better, rather than being a team of stars as we were in 2010......our 2009 team was nothing to write home about on paper either and look what happened. Im quietly confident we can make the 8. It'll be a year of finds. Loko Murray Humble Sio etc.will all get a good run earlier than expected....
  • FUNNY !!!!!

  • Mr Murray - has been MIA for 2 weeks my source tells me and not the greatest attitude either. Expect the 2009 pairing of Mortimer/Robson to start 2011.
