Doesn't Mary have a drill at training where all players rip into each other for an hour?
That would put some starch and communication skills into the team.
Blue and Gold: Exactly right I suggested in What To Do something similar. I suggested to coach for three or four weeks only defence--rip into each other, as you say. The Saint`s players ask the tacklers to hit them harder!?
Let the attack look after itself in this period. Our attack is so poor that it can`t get much worse if we don`t train attack for a couple of weeks. There is still time to turn things around. Give it a go Saints style.
With all due respect, I wish you guys who are posting negative things about our coach would either stop it or go away.
Our club has been a joke for too long. We demand results after a long time between premierships and we show no patience at all.
Brad Arthur is our coach. If you don't like it, that's your choice. Please don't feed us with constant negatives. When was the last time we saw one of our coaches see out their entire contract? We can't keep going on this merry-go-round where we give a coach a little while to get results and then give up on him when he doesn't meet our expectations. The rubbish needs to end here. Let's respect the board we have and the decisions they have made. I'm sure they want us to win just as much as us fans do.
Brad Arthur has been employed for a set time and no doubt has targets that he and the club want to see met. If he doesn't achieve those things by the end of his contract then it's likely we'll see another person coaching our beloved Eels.
Brian Smith was the second best coach we've had at the Eels (in my opinion of course). He took us from a decade of depressing failure and took us back to the finals. He even took us to a grand final that we should have won and we all wish we had have won. Under Smith's reign we saw some good players finally coming to our club and some very average players reinvent themselves. Not everyone liked him or his style but he brought us results. As soon as the results started to turn bad, people turned on him and he was out the door. Unfortunately, from that point on the door began to revolve. Now there are fans that are calling for it to keep on revolving.
Brad Arthur is a coach that good players respect and want to play for. Our team next year is going to be as good as any we've had in the last 30 years. Just give the bloke a chance.
Unfortunately BA cannot get his players motivated enough to want to win . They show no hunger after a good win from the previous week. As a coach you need to instill that winning mentality week in week out, he keeps picking players that would struggle at other clubs reggies outfits.
You and I have no influence on how he picks his teams but I feel that 8 rounds in and coming second last should tell him that whatever his doing isn't working. Why wait to round 20 to make changes.?
You live by the team selections then you will die by the teams selections.
I have no pity / empathy for any coach.
Camo Do you have any explanation of how you know that "our team next year is going to be as good as any---last thirty years."? We hear that or its variation every year...for the last thirty years! How do you know what will happen next year? Like many, too many, on this site you fancy yourself as a fortuneteller! You can tell the future? Tell me the six numbers that will be drawn in tonight`s lotto? Fans shut their eyes to reality. They prefer to believe an impossible optimism rather than face the cold, hard facts, of real life. As one of those optimists, don`t you think it is a bit soon to abandon ship in April 2015 and pine for the glory and the grandeur of the splendour that 2016 will surely bring?
Keeps picking a not a half not a forward on the bench who always gets in the way, dummy half or second reciever. Seffa needs to be pissed off forever.
I think BA need Justin Holbrook to help him coach
They have Widdop and Marshal to control the game and guide the team. They also have a great fullback in Josh Dugan. They have also done well in not losing key players or too many players to injury and suspension. How is our team better on paper? Maybe if we were at full strength with Radradra, like we saw in round 1.
The safe bet for the spoon is any team coached by Ricky Stuart
