Bellamy has been closely aligned with a USA football coach Bill Belichick. ( Jack Gibson went to the US to see what was happening with modern day coaching and how it was evolving there.
Undoubtedly those influences from Belichick would be part of the Storms thinking. Ryles will be bringing those thought processes with him and this clip may give us some ideas on how he will approach his coaching with us. Maybe also the type of players he will want to recruit.

Ryles will have a mixture of all the coaches he has been around from Nathan Brown, Brian Smith, Phil Gould in his playing days. To Craig Bellamy, Trent Robinson and Eddie Jones in his coaching so far. While adding his own spin to it.
Many would compare Belichick to Bellamy due to both success and their mannerisms. Also, both coaches have a decent coaching tree with limited success. Only Maguire has gone on to win a comp from Bellamy's coaching tree, while Belichick's is quite dreadful to be fair.
Issue is many try to be like Belichick, same with Bellamy. Take influence but do your own thing too. Where Bellamy is loud and frightening in his demands, Ryles might more quiet and concise in his demands. Doesn't mean it is bad either way just players are smart enough to see someone trying to be like another person.
Ryles will take influence in fitness from Bellamy as well standards but other areas he could pluck from Robinson or Jones or any other coaches he has been around either as an assistant or player.
I don't know a lot about Belichick but watching last night's Storm game I could see his influence with how Bellamy has been influenced by him. The type of players Bellamy has recruited and the way they defend.
I am not a fan of Belichick.,s aggressive approach to his players. I would much more go for a Bennett, Cleary, Jack Gibson persona
Coryn if you listen to the Muggleton podcast re the incoming coaches (on TCT) you will see these thoughts being alluded to, coming through him as well. Repetition, Repetition, Repetition.......until you get it right!
It looks like Ryles maybe ingrained with some of this stuff, lets all hope and pray he can deliver it. The theory is never as good as the practice......but maybe we are getting that inovation we have been craving!
Like your work here Tad, good perceptions and interesting observations. I have thought for a long time that Penrith use this smothering defense to great effect and I note that is how the Bulldogs have been developing there ever improving defense, subjected not withstanding is in their case the individual capablities of the protaganists. Is Ciraldo the chicken or the egg?
I also see what your saying about Melb's attack, the almost relentless support structure is almost built in.
Spot on Poppa. We desperately need some innovation.
I think Ryles will be firm but honest straight forward type coach. He will bring his own style but implement where necessary ideas he's picked up from his experience with other coaches. I see him more as a quiet achiever who has an excellent football IQ. I really think he will go really well a bring the Eels into a major force. I see a premiership under the Ryles era
He won't do shit unless the club empowers him to sack some fan favourites if he feels the need to. Unless he's allowed to claim the Alpha tag and these turkeys fall into line , we are just going around in the same old circles.
Do we think that certain players and MON will be able to take off their chiefs hats and become mere Indians ? Because I don't. I say there's already a bit of a power struggle going on as Ryles wants some players gone , and that alone would be putting the microscope over contracts that MON orchestrated. The biggest issue between MON and Arthur was R&R ( or the lack of recruitment ) , so now there an even bigger focus on us getting new blood I'm wondering if Ryles has been told he has a free pass to go around MON or whether he's just a fresh face that was happy to get his first crack at the big time under the same old conditions the last bloke had.
"to sack some fan favourites if he feels the need to"
Ryles is on record already having spoken to Gutho, Brown and Moses......who I presume are the fan favourites you would like to sack.....seems he doesn't see it your way at all, maybe the highway for you Wiz.....who knows with Mon, but I think you will find that the picking and choosing will come from Ryles, the longevity of Mon will be interesting to watch.
Fcuk CE, you must know him better than anyone on here......
'Hope deferred makes the heart faint'. It's good to get some hope back in terms of (Rugby League) after it's been deferred the past 10 yrs under BA. So I like to be optimistic Poppa and hope positively that Ryles and Co will deliver better than most expect. I have a good feeling about the Ryles appointment and the staff he's bringing with him.
