Solid player. Great defensive hooker like Nathan Friend but occasionally takes the wrong options in attack. Bears the brunt of unfair criticism from the great unwashed by virtue of the fact that he isn't Robbie Farrah or Cameron Smith.
looks like we have the same opinion again BM lol.....
i honestly think he'll be a genuine leader in the future, and a contender for SOO soon.. look at hayne, as much as every parra fan in the world will hate me for saying this but he's positional play is soooooo shit... and his play the ball speed is shocking, yet he is rated the 3rd or 4th best fullback in the game.? keating deserves starting hooker this season, and hopefully a little direction from the halves
I don't think MK is going to get near SOO selection next year, or anytime soon - and whilst Hayne's play the balls are slow, he consistently does things on a footy field that most players cannot do at all so he deservedly is recognised as one of the best players in the game.
I've always said that MK unfairly bears the brunt of a failing halves combination. He has been solid without being spectacular and deserves his starting spot. He IS the best hooker we have at the club. And for those who are in love with Anthony Mitchell - against the Bunnies in the latter part of the season, Mitchell failed to see a three on one overlap on his left with Tahu a shoe-in to score the first try of the match. Not a hanging offence and clearly an error due to inexperience, but MK seems to get routinely hanged for taking the 'wrong option', often by those who insist on Mitchell getting the job full-time...

MK is a very average NRL first grader. He is defensively strong as BM points out but I think he doesnt give us that thrust around the ruck we need. His passes are on average slower than most of his counterparts. Having said that - he did show some mongrel and character to come back late in the season after his papers were stamped. Sometimes - these hard line actions make or break a player. I think he will need to be real good at the start to hold off the Maquire/Mitchell combination once that hits the ground.
dont forget SK had the best hooker in the world under him (or under bellemy which ever way you wanna look at it) and hes bound to have picked up a pointer or two. i think MK will thrive under SK, and the same goes for Robbo and Morts cause without them firing on all 10 cylinders were going to be hopeless again...
we all thought he was great in 09, until we realised that Kevin Kingston was the better hooker. He has shown bits and pieces here and there, but no where near SOO material EELS4lyf. Hopefully having Ant Mitchell and Mcguire push him for a spot will bring better things from him.
keating will play a lot better this year knowing that mitchell will be on the bench hanging to come on... decent hooker but lacks speed and spark. mitchell will play the pj marsh role a few years ago and come on and bring much more speed.
last year keating was very predictable and should never ever put boot to ball...ever
I think if anything, we can expect improvement from Matt Keating in 2011. He himself would be aware that he didn't have a great year in 2010, and he would have been working hard on the areas that both he and the coaches feel he needs improvement on in the long-run. For that reason, I think we might just see a better Matthew Keating in 2011, as a lot of the chinks, I think, can be ironed out of his game.
One of the most frustrating players to watch. Seems to have very little footy intelligence.
Can tackle but that is nowhere near enough for a modern 9. It isn't just smith and farrah doing it for there clubs, Isaac Luke, Kevin Kingston and Michael Ennis were amongst the best in the NRL in 2010.
It is no coincidence that the best attacking footy parra have played in the last 20 years was when Brad Drew was on fire in 2001.
"Good luck Arnold I hope it is something which will work out okay for you Those types of things makes you think how fragile life can be at times. Tough being in that mindset .Stay positive.
I also found out last week I have a grade 2 skin cancer…"

Nice kid apparently.
