Dyldam Parramatta Eels under 20s five-eighth Ryan Matterson says he’s speechless after capping off 2014 with a green and gold jersey in the Junior Kangaroos side.
Heading into Junior Kangaroos camp on Friday to prepare to play the Junior Kiwis in Auckland, Matterson couldn’t wait to run out onto Mt Smart Stadium.
“I was very privileged and honoured to get the call up,” Matterson said.
“It’s been a dream come true this year. Last year I had a lot of injuries but I bounced back this year, had a good crack at NSW Cup, played Under 20s Origin and now I’m wearing green and gold.”
The Junior Test will see Matterson face up against his Eels teammates Zach Dockar-Clay and Josh Aloiai, and the playmaker will also be at the Eels for another 3 seasons after re-signing with the club earlier this season.
“I signed for another 3 years and I can’t wait to get amongst it,” Matterson said.
“Brad Arthur’s a great coach and I’m looking forward to spending my time at Parramatta.”
“Leading into next year, I just want to be a dominant player in NSW Cup. But if I can get a chance to play NRL I’d take that with both hands.”
The Junior Kangaroos, including Eels Under 20s teammates Matterson and Kelepi Tanginoa, take on the Junior Kiwis on October 18 at Auckland's Mt Smart Stadium. Kick off is at 7pm local time.

Im gald he sign a three year deal with us becuase he be one player the roosters like to get there hands on along with Clay,Davis,Folau,Lussick,Aloiai,Fuimaono does anybody know how long these players are contract to us for
Why would the Roosters want those players for Paul? They already have enough good NYC players coming through, I'll post the names that you've written then post their equivalent. They have: Jackson Hastings, Taane Milne, Willis Meehan, Jakiel Mariner, Brendan Elliot, Nene MacDonald in their NYC team and all of them are fine players. The Roosters don't take many Under 20's players.
What you talkin' about Willis?
Probably worth pointing out that in Zach Dockar Clay and Ryan Matterson we have the New Zealand and Australian under 20's representative halfbacks. Hopefully one if not both can kick on to first grade success.
