Wests Tigers have granted Ryan Matterson permission to negotiate with other clubs in a move that will expedite his departure from the club.

Parramatta, Gold Coast and St George Illawarra are among the teams interested in Matterson’s services and are now free to begin formally negotiating with his management.

Matterson has been unsettled at the joint-venture outfit for some time and first raised the issue with coach Michael Maguire three months ago.

The 24-year-old is on $350,000 and $425,000 respectively for the next two years of his Tigers deal. He will be able to command significantly more elsewhere given he was on the cusp of selection for the NSW State of Origin team.

Parramatta have already secured Penrith’s Reagan Campbell-Gillard on a five-year deal and officials are keen to add a marquee back-rower to the pack. Matterson fits the bill, although he fell out with Eels coach Brad Arthur during his stint at the blue and golds. Arthur felt Matterson was a forward at a time when the youngster felt he was a half - and he ended up being dropped all the way down to Ron Massey Cup. The pair resolved their differences not long after Matterson moved, making a return a possibility.

      • And the Roosters steal theirs from other clubs whilst rorting the cap

      • Go over to the chooks' stinking website where you belong, fong. You bring a disgusting stench to this site.

        • Agree, why would you hang around on a page that you don't follow. What kind of a dribble, pissy pants looser must you be. Giving out advice, who cares what you think. Thanks for coming out but I knew this from the start. You just fooled a lot of people here but how can you think for a minute you follow the club with all the shit you dribble. I guess s few bum lickers lift your self esteem, but they also must feel like dopes.

    • Fifita and Arrow are higher and we won’t get them

      • Arrows a middle forward. We dont need him.

        • You don’t think brown can’t just move to the second row?

          • No. He's played there twice in 80+ games, early on before they realised his lateral movement wasn't good enough.

            • Yeah that’s fair. I’ve never seen him play there.

    • Your not a rooster. Your a cock. The roosters are filthy about buying Angus and letting Matterson go. So lets not get too high up on your soap box.
