Hard to read when you think where we are and where these guys came from ie the Bulldogs salary cap, Oasis and merchandising scandals to head of NRL and outed head of the Eels...... but at least he still has a good mate in Bill!!!

  • Love your work Yoda, the day Scott was signed, i and many others here tore right into Steve and the board for hiring the bloke, it was as plain as day that it was a complete disaster. he was nowhere near the best person for the job and was hired as a patsy.

Make no mistake, this is Steves Fault, it was the move thats bought the club to its knees.

Steve cops the wraps for hiring BA, he needs to take responsability for hiring Scott, for that decision alone he should fall on his sword, and its not like it wasnt blatantly obvious at the time, theres no excuses on this one.

Id like to see a rule that no CEO can be hired from within the club, it must be outsourced, that would have help stop dramas like this.

    • Agreed snake but when do you think Sharp should fall on his sword? Now or after the court case is over and all facts are laid out on full? Imo sharp can no longer remain on the eels board and will have to step down at some point. I also think he has a right to examine all allegations against him with a right to reply before he stands downdown.
    • Agree Mate.

Guilty or not Sharps time is now at an end, and this decision to appoint Seward was probably his worst moment. I personally have no problem with Steve S and the others taking matters legal - that's their right and so they should, and I hope they win - but it is still time to start afresh with at the very least a new Chair and CEO.

I still don't believe that SS is dishonest, or a poor judge of things footy related, just maybe not the man for the top job.

As you say, he needs to take responsibility for what has happened.

    • Agree Snake Sewards hiring was the greatest mistake the club has made and I hope that eventually that back stabbing ratbag Seward and his mate Greenberg that recommended him, eventually get what's coming to them one day.
Think Sharp well and truly is more aware of that than any of us could ever be.

But seriously Snake do you truly believe Seward is the 'patsy' in all of this? How can that be the case when Sewards evidence is what nailed the club? His mate applying fight club rules to Sewards evidence. Yeah nah.

Steve cops the wraps for hiring BA and will suffer forever for the mistake in employing SS.

Agree with FME and I'd be shocked if anyone of them want to go around again but deserve to see what that sleazy little prick has accused the club of and exonerated himself of in the process. The only ppl that probs don't want it to be viewed are those either complicent or spiteful haters.
    • Sharps worst decision was not calling in the NRL as soon as he found out about all this mess. We would be in a different place now if he had done so.
  • But he is innocent, just ask the rookie.
  • So be it fong if all this evidence is there then show it. As soon as it's all laid out bare and shown to be true then I'll be the first to condemn him and ask he immediately steps down. If u were accused of wrong doing wouldn't u want a chance to defend yourself or would u roll over like a dog?
  • Everybody deserves a reply and the right to have all the exact charges laid out in front of them, all 5 deserve their due process but i thought Steves job was untenable well before this latest cap drama, i thought Steve should have stepped down over the contract fiascos and the Seward fallout, its been pity its been allowed to go on this long.

The NRL is a different kettle of fish, their incompetence shown in this and the ridiculous hiring of Todd Greenburg seems to be the only thing saving steve atm but their incompetence doesnt make ours any more palatal.

    • Agreed snake and as I mentioned to fong if sharp is found to have no case then I'll humbly admit I was wrong, I'm an idiot for ever believing a word sharp said and that I will never make comment about political matters ever again.
      • FME thats pretty hard on yourself mate, lifes all about getting things wrong, nobody is ever right all the time as much as we like to take the piss and claim we are.

Sometimes we just have to make a call at the time with the info we have, and at the end if it doesnt work out its not hard to say 'i was wrong' and move on with lessons learned.

I thought sharp could deliver both on the footy side and the competent running of the club, i was wrong on the latter, not the last time i'll be wrong and lessons learned.

Theres not a person around thats been involved in any sort of politics and hasnt been wrong mate.

"If you are going to do that better off just keeping him in Cup as a break glass option. Unless he is that much of a cancer and that negative to the squad that he needs to go."
