Mateo to miss the game?

"Eels coach Daniel Anderson maintained Feleti Mateo, Weller Hauraki and Kris Keating would not play against the Warriors tomorrow night."Although strong rumours through the week would suggest otherwise, I'm starting to think Mateo won't take the field at all on Saturday, even from the bench. I know team sheets shouldn't be taken as gospel until the side runs out, but in reality, he's not named. What does Anderson or the side gain from adding Feleti at the last minute, while all along intending to include him? Besides a tiny bit of unpredictability?Has anyone heard anything that says he will play? He must be seriously lacking in fitness to not even come off the bench...http://www.smh.com.au/news/lhqnews/bulldogs-lose-patten-for-nq-battle/2009/08/13/1249756399218.html

  • its weird aye if he was on standby last week why cant he play this week its so dumb
    • Yeah it is wierd... I heard on the Footy show last night that apparently there was some unrest between Ando and Feleti... I think it was in the papers a little while ago as well. Weidler said he spoke to Mateo about it, and that Mateo said nothing could be further from the truth.

I hope there isn't something going on between the two that we don't know about, and that affects his time on the field... But I'm confident that it's all just speculation, as Mateo has said.
  • IMO Mateo needs to work his way back in the side. It might make him hungry to perform at his best. Similar to Inu, Mateo has been out of sorts this year a possibly needs an attitude adjustment. If he can get on board with DA, I'm sure he will be one of the first players picked. If attitude is the problem, then I applaude DA's tough stance. It has worked so far, look at Inus recent form! I would rather have players in the side that may not be as naturally talented but are hungry to succeed and and give 100% every week than talented players with an attitude problem. Point in case, Joel Reddy vs. Krisnan Inu!
  • Another possibility could be DA would want Feleti to return against the Tigers cause there smaller pack and allow him to play himself into some form. Instead of bringing him back against a bigger NZ pack... Where Latimore size will come in handy.

Just a guess..... Bring on the demolition saturday night!!!
  • Well I really can't see how Galuvao has gone from 2 weeks out to 0 weeks out. If Galuvao is out, Mateo will play. If not, then Mateo might not.

Sounds like he is done at broncos and he wants to come back to Sydney, would be cheap, plenty of experience and a big body?My only concern would be the drama he might bring with him.
