Brad Arthurs has racked up a win in his first week as an NRL coach as the Eels ran out 42 to 22 winners over the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium.
The Eels got off to a great start when Nathan Smith charged down a Peter Wallace kick and regathered to open the scoring at six to nil following a simple Luke Burt conversion. However, Broncos responded in kind when Corey Norman took advantage of a Jake Mullaney mistake from a kick to level things up.
As the first half wore on, Parramatta ball movement seemed to be troubling the Broncos who began slipping off an alarming number of tackles and in an amazing 11 minute period, the Eels ran in amazing four tries to go into half-time leading 30 to six.
However, whereas Parramatta finished on fire, it was the Broncos who came out with a full-head of steam in the second half. Ben Roberts made a mistake from the kick-off and Luke Capewell went in after just two minutes. A few minutes later Andrew McCullough brushed off some ordinary goal-line defence to make it two early tries and suddenly the Broncos were just two converted tries down.
Parramatta got back into their groove though and the Eels went in again after a Ben Roberts break put them in good field position and Fuifui Moimoi ran into a gap off Chris Sandow to push the lead out to 36 to 18.
Brisbane scored from a kick to give themselves hope when Lachlan Maranta climbed above Ken Sio to pull down a Ben Hunt bomb, but the Eels put the icing on the cake when Chris Sandow went over out wide and Luke Burt made it seven from seven to complete a 42 to 22 thrashing.
Admittedly, the Broncos were awful in the back end of the first half but a number of Eels showed some brilliant form tonight with Reni Maitua probably bringing his best to the table for the first time this year. Joseph Paulo was again a handful and Chris Sandow was busy particularly in support. Both Ryan Morgan and Cheyse Blair had strong games both in attack and defence while Nathan Hindmarsh was again inspirational.

GREAT WIN, ARTHUR DALLY M COACH OF THE YEAR....
Sucked in to all those who bet against the Eels!!
lol yeah!
they said some dude put $9000 on the eels. he'd be loving life.
The most attacking roster in the nrl, and dopey played them at a structured gameplan.
Thank god hes gone. Not only did we win, but it was exciting to watch, and I'm excited for the weekend games again
So many great points to talk off, i thought Blair was sound and mistake free, Morgan a top attacking game, Paulo so dangerous, Mannah back to his damaging best, N.Smith to keep his spot at hooker, he is wot we have been missing. Maitua so so dangerous, Sandow starting to back himself. Poore looked excellent, Fui so strong, wot a weapon...And Mullaney, wot a fillin job.
Hindmarsh, wot are we going to do without him next year?
Hindy coming back on in the second half stopped the rot. The Broncos were looking very dangerous in attack and were only 12 behind. We need someone to step into those shoes next year.
I'm thinking David Stagg. Can't see any of our current roster doing the same kind of job.
Helps the entire team when the hooker doesn't take an age to pass the ball, the forwards just keep on rolling on creating room for the halves and outside backs, great team effort!
YYYYYyeeeeeeeeeaahahahahahahah!!!! FEELS GOOD.!!!! see what happens when they play thier natural game...the boys smashed that!
