Match Report: Eels beaten again

Parramatta has managed to snap a 13 game losing streak for the Sharks as their woeful start to the season continued with an eleven to nil loss.

The Eels just never looked like putting points on the board. Admittedly, rain made conditions tough but the Eels failed to adapt their play and the Sharks outgritted them to record their first win of the season.

There was one late change to the Eels side, with Ben Smith missing after injuring his ankle during the week. That saw Justin Poore shift up into the starting team at lock while Justin Horo came into the 17.

The Sharks had the better of the play throughout and had a couple of opportunity to kick for goal. Instead they looked to score but couldn't get the ball over the line as the Eels goal line defence held.

We only had one real chance to score, but a try in the corner was disallowed with Jarryd Hayne's final pass adjudged to be a forward pass.

With both team unable to take their limited chances and few opportunities due to plenty of loss ball, no points were scored in the first half and we went into the sheds probably  lucky to be level pegging.

Eventually, the Sharks were able to take one of their chances when a play down the right hand side saw a try scored in the corner. Tim Smith couldn't convert but the Sharks extended their lead with another try down the same side, with Nathan Hindmarsh embarassingly fended off when coming across for the cover tackle.

A Tim Smith penalty made it ten and then landed a field goal on the buzzer to complete the upset victory.

Once again, we were both out enthused and out-executed. Daniel Anderson must take some action in our halves which once again provided zero penetration and little direction. The only positive aspect from the game was a couple of strong performances from Justin Horo and Brendan Oake, who both showed contributed good contributions off the bench and will have Daniel Anderson breathing a little easier about our second row depth.

  • didnt we snap there losing streak last year?
  • We are the worst team.

im sick off it, pull ur head out of ur ass boys.

Tahu has officially over taken poore as the worst buy of the season, he is fkn horrible.

Morts, Robbo and KK have absoloutely no kicking game and something has to be done here, i was considering tipping cronulla , but thought nahh we ain't that bad, but we are.

Well done to Albert Kelly , Tim Smith, Josh Cordoba, Talima Tautai and John Morris for making us look like a bunch of dickheads out there.

WAKE UP PARRA. u boys are making Parradise look like a genius.
  • Yup
  • impressed with horo and mannah (once again) poore was better this week too, but geez, this is not good!!
  • well said BBG , wtf was tahu doing??
  • Its a simple fix..Improve kicking game and completion rate ALOT
  • We are having real trouble getting a run through the middle. KEATING offers us no penetration from dummy half ( unlike Kingston last year ). We are not making the run through the corridors because PORE is not bending them back at any stage. CAYLESS, HINDMARSH are just plodding and without this drive through the middle, we are not allowing TAHU and REDDY etc to get clear room. This pressure is making high risker taker MATEO push the ball even more and this is adding to the dropped ball and poor completion rate.

I seriously dont know how ANDERSON will fix this at the moment. We are playing worse now than we did in the fiorst 6 rounds last year and that is saying something. Thought HORO was ok and will get better. INU not interested and we are flogging HAYNE so much as the go to man.

    Not good boys.
  • They all sucked. Robson has got to go. WTF was that kick with 5 mins to go?
    • that was the only moment in the whole game i was screaming in anger at my television
    • First time in my footy watchin life that I turned it off with 10 minutes to go...just could not bear to watch the embarressmnt..so i missed the kick with 5 minutes to go!!
How much are we missing Kevin Kingston!!!!
