Here' the clubs match report. Best I can do right now.
After a flawless opening 30 minutes the Pirtek Parramatta Eels have self-destructed to lose 46-12 to cross town rivals the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium tonight.
The Eels were outclassed by the Bulldogs’ backline as Josh Morris bagged a hat trick of tries on the night to push his Origin claims.
In front of a strong crowd of 28,214, the Eels began the match with composure and a perfect completion rate from 15 sets, establishing a 12-4 lead with ten minutes remaining in the first half.
Eels halfback Casey McGuire kicked cross field for Ryan Morgan to leap above everyone and score a terrific try adjacent to the posts.
Jarryd Hayne then placed a well-weighted grubber behind the line for Ken Sio to pounce on before the dead ball line. Burt converted from the right sideline for the lead.
But after a Mitchell Allgood play-the-ball error around the 30 minute mark, the Eels simply fell to pieces.
Ben Barba went to work, proving to be a handful for the Eels all night as he broke and spun out of tackles to set up Morris in the left corner.
The Bulldogs then cut the deficit 12-10 when Morris scored his second try as he connected with Kris Keating to score.
The Bulldogs scored twice in the space of 5 minutes to end the first half with a 22-12 lead. Origin hopeful, Josh Reynolds, was also heavily involved as he split the line before passing to Tim Lafai on his outside to score in the right corner.
On the stroke of halftime, Sam Kasiano burst through a yawning gap to find Barba who then connected with Dene Halatau to score under the posts.
The Eels went from bad to worse in the second half, beginning the second stanza with three straight errors to give the Bulldogs further opportunities at their line.
The Bulldogs capitalised when Reynolds landed a kick 10 metres out that sat up nicely for him to dive onto and score.
On the following set the Bulldogs scored again through the kick when Barba put Keating through a hole in the Eels’ defence and kick 35m out from the try line for Morris to race and complete the hat trick in putting the Bulldogs up 34-12.
The Bulldogs effectively sealed the victory 20 minutes from fulltime when Bryson Goodwin finished a backline movement to score.
Matthew Keating fought hard for the Eels during his 100th match, making 43 tackles on the night.
The Eels’ troubles continue as Willie Tonga was forced to leave the field with an ankle injury as well as Reni Maitua who was placed on report for a late shot on Michael Ennis.
The Eels will travel south to the nation’s capital next Sunday to face the Canberra Raiders.
