Matai Charged With Both Hits

"Manly's international centre Steve Matai is facing up to four weeks suspension after being charged with two careless high tackles.

Matai was charged by the NRL video review committee on Tuesday with a grade five careless high tackle on Parramatta five-eight Tom Humble and a grade one offence on Jarryd Hayne in his team's loss to the Eels at Brookvale Oval on Monday night."

4 weeks is what he deserves. It was so good to see Tahu square it up, Matai is a deadset wanker.

In all fairness to Matai he is normally tough but fair, those high shots were a little uncharacterstic he usually has pretty good technique.

  Maybe he is "normally" a hard fair player but lately he seems to be out to deliberately hurt or injure opposition players.
  I think the review committee would have taken into account his shot on Slater in the test as well.

catai deserves a 6 month stint at long bay goal.....he produced his usual consistent week in week out thuggery ....his play acting also at its best...sore head,sore shoulder,sore leg ...we CAN understand why he HAS a stuffed right arm...it has opposition players skull parts imbedded in it......

  I actually like Matai's toughness. He certainly gives a good amount of intimidation to Manlys backline, however his control can often be wayward. I like how he hits hard and puts in as he does. He certainly cant be accused of giving his all for his team.
  If he wore the Eels jersey i would probably applaud 'some' of his aggression, however, he plays for those dirty stinking Sea Eagles, so I shall continue calling him Catai!

I think he should have got 4 weeks for the Humble tackle alone. It was vicious and full of intent. You see some blokes get a few weeks for taking someone high even when it was unavoidable i.e. when the attacker slips into it. Matai just squared Humble up and swung his arm at him, luckily it didn't break his jaw.

Kudos to Humble who got straight up even though he suffered concussion. The Hayne hit is worth a week or two aswell, especially considering it was the second one of the game.
