Market Update

Another Week has past, lets look how the bookies rate us..Tab sportsbet6002 BULLDOGS 5.00 $6011 ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA 5.00 $6004 MANLY 5.50 $6005 MELBOURNE 6.00 $6009 PARRAMATTA 6.00 $6001 BRISBANE 9.00 $6016 GOLD COAST 9.00CentrebetST GEORGE-ILLAWARRA 4.75PARRAMATTA EELS 5.00BULLDOGS 5.50MANLY SEA EAGLES 5.50MELBOURNE STORM 6.00BRISBANE BRONCOS 8.00GOLD COAST TITANS 10.00BetfairSt George 5.20Canterbury 5.60Manly 6.00Parramatta 7.00Melbourne 7.20Brisbane 10.00Gold Coast 10.00Well with betting close between all teams, it obvoiusly means the bookies have no idea who is going to win the big one. Another question is, do we go into this weeks game against the Dragons as favourites? Unthinkable even a few weeks ago however wev'e won 7 straight and theyve lost 3 straight. Also if we beat the Dragons this week where do we sit on premiership betting? Centrebet already has us scond favourites, so surely atleast in the market we will go to top pick, its unbelievable.I hope with all this expectation on the team we can still go out and deliver on Friday, i have know doubt the Dragons will be back to their best this week, they know they need some momentum heading into the finals, what a better way for them to get it than to knock off the form team of the comp.

  • Talking of betting, your lobster on Jamie Soward taking the Dally M is starting to look shaky. I reckon Hayne would have bagged 3 Dally M points in each of our consecutive wins bar the Panthers match (where he probably would have got 2).

I think he was on 11 and Soward was on 20 when betting closed.
    • Yer Mate it aint looking good is it, haha. Honeslty though it means alot more to me to see Hayne and the Eels killing it each week, than 1200 bux anyways.

It will be close, I'm actually pretty sure Thurston was on 20 with Soward on 18 or something when it finished, and yer im pretty sure hayne was on 11. Thurston wouldnt have added more than 6 or so points since then, Soward has had a few MOM's in that time, but Hayne would have racked up 20 odd easily, it will be close.
  • I cant beleive that Manly are rated so highly. Even with Brett Stewart back they only just managed to beat the Sharks in the last minute by 2 points and the Sharks played practically the whole match 1 man down after Luke Douglas got sent off.
    • Very poor performance from Manly, 100% right there. I am suprised by their odd's. Gold Coast seem to be good value at $9 though.
    • I know what your saying mate they really havn't been going so well, but they are there and they proved that they have the ability to win it last year.

I must admit Manly are the one team I most hope we don't run into in the Finals. They have the wood over us big time, they just scare me lol. Saying that I don't see Manly troubling anyone else in the top 8, especially after yesterdays performance, so hopefully we won't have to face them.
      • I'm most worried about Brisbane and the Storm. I can't put my finger on why, I just feel like that they are most capable of stepping up in the finals and producing great footy better than anyone else.
  • So question to you all! Would any of you start thinking about laying off on my bet?

I could lay off all $4800 I stand to collect right now for a guaranteed profit of about $650. I'll probably ride it all the way home, which is the wrong thing to do from a betting point of view especially because I actually think we're unders at 6 or 7-1, until we get into sixth place and we're not in sudden death.
    • I would find it hard to consider it purely from a financial perspective. I've got $50 on us to win @ $67, and given since I put the $ down we haven't lost a game- i'm not game enough to change anything!

I would feel so so devasted if we got up and I didn't have that bet on.
      • Congrats Tayls! I'm with you. I can't see myself laying off, although I may if we make the grand final and we're favourites. Think in that case, just the excitement/stress of the GF would be enough and having a decent financial outcome would only exacerbate the situation!
  • With Anderson as coach we are in really good hands.
I love listening to his post-match press conferences. He gives credit where due, allows the boys to bask in the glory of a win and then sets them back to work with their minds focused on the task at hand.

"I would still do it, I doubt they would all go and the ones that did you would have to ask if you even still want them anyway. If BA stays we are sliding further into the abyss anyway. "

"Absolutely.
If losing BA means we lose 90% of the squad - I'm all in.
Imagine how exciting it will be next year? New coach, a new squad and a new era "
